Default Transferring to International Paper in Forest Park, GA

My husband has accepted a job at International Paper in Forest Park on Pinetree St. We are very interested in a house on Honey Creek Road in McDonough but we have no idea what the commute would be. According to Google maps the distance is 30 miles. He would leave the house at 6:30 am and the plant at around 6 pm. Any idea on what the commute would be like?

I think the longest part of the commute will be getting to I-75. My parents live in McDonough and while I don't live there and am usually not around during rush hour, it is very populated and I would expect some traffic. As far as the interstate, you'll probably hit the most traffic from around Jodeco Rd to where 675 splits off.

I don't think mornings would be too bad at all, but coming back around 6 pm at 75/675 junction is no fun at all. That's about as bad as downtown. Depending on where in Forest Park it is, it may not be as bad coming down 675, but in the end you're going to hit the same traffic.

Hope that helps.

Since your coming and going will be during rush hour, the commute can easily be 30 minutes to an hour.

I don't think you could have picked a worse time for the commute.

I travel to FP from Woodstock and beat the traffic in the morning and in the afternoon. Flex schedules rock.

He is salaried so he can basically set his own hours. Would leaving the house at 6 am be a better time? If I may ask, what hours do you work?

Sorry for the delay on the follow up.

6 am would be a lot better, but the morning isn't so much the problem. It would be better if he could leave FPK by 4.

The hours I like are 6:30 - 3. 75 South is a mess. Too few lanes, too many big trucks. We're actually looking at a house down in McDonough as well. I would leave the house at 5:45 or so, and leave the office at 3pm.

Good Luck,

Michael
