Traffic on 400
Hey Everyone,
I'm thinking about moving to either Roswell or Alpharetta (around exit 8 -10) and have a traffic question. I'll probably have to drive to the airport once a week and will leave about 6:30 AM on average. Can anyone here tell me how long that drive will take? I know traffic on 400 is supposed to be really bad so I want to make sure I know what I'm getting into before I go buy a house.
Also, I'll have to drive downtown from time to time during rush hour (9AM). If anyone could tell me how long to expect that drive to take I'd appreciate it as well.
Thanks!!

If those are your only choices, do Roswell.
Sorry, I can't talk about commute times anymore this close to bedtime (nightmares).

You may wish to explore the MARTA rail map for the North line. There is parking at the North stations and that may be a better alternative to driving to the airport (or in some cases, downtown, depending on your destination there).
The map is interactive so you can click on it to make it larger, drag it, etc: http://www.itsmarta.com/maps/viewer.asp (broken link)

Take Marta train at North Spring. I used to work in downtown. Everybody I know live in Alpharatta and Roswell area did that.

Driving to the airport and leaving no later that 6:30 should not be a problem at all. From exit 13 the commute is 45 minutes.
The drive to downtown at 9 AACK!!!

Thanks for all the info. Less than 45 minutes to the airport isn't bad. I'll just have to be sure to get out of the house early. It sounds like MARTA is the best way to go if I need to go downtown. I appreciate the help!

I'll echo everyone else. MARTA hands down is the best way to get to and from the Airport. While ATL traffic might be barable a 630 am, parking at the airport long term is somewhat expensive. Plus, you should consider the return commute, you might arrive back in ATL during rush hour.

I live off exit 9. I've driven many times to the airport at 6:30 am, and have never hit traffic.
