Commute from fairburn/union city to Duluth????
How long would this commute take? And would anyone here endure this commute for a significant pay raise or is it still not worth it??

Depending on where you're starting/ending, and what time you're commuting, that could easily be an hour+ commute. Whether it's worth it or not is a question only you can answer.

Without traffic, the commute is about 40-45 minutes (one way), if the Duluth you are speaking of is right of interstate 85 (it's a straight shot up 85).
If you are speaking of Duluth near Hwy 141 and 285, maybe around the same time, or 45-50 minutes (one way). Note these times are WITHOUT traffic.
Of course, during peak traffic times, it can take over an hour. Since ANYTHING can trigger a traffic problem in Atlanta, I don't think I would do it. I live in Fairburn; maybe I just don't like for my commute to be more than 30 minutes one way. I couldn't imagine spending almost 2 hours a day on the road, but, to each his own.

I would not recommend it. I drive this occasionally and it can be close to 2 hours in traffic. If no traffic at all about 45 minutes to an hour going straight up I 85. Add thirty minutes if you stop by the Varsity on the way.

That sounds like a real nightmare. You'll probably offset any raise you get in gas costs and maintenance for your car.

If you take 85 to 285 and then get back on 85 then that cuts out some traffic. but all depends on the hours youd be working....for a raise I think its worth it. I mean more money is more money right?

If you take that route, it will definitely be a NIGHTMARE!! We are talking top end perimeter? Traffic would start piling up right before you get to the Ashford-Dunwoody Rd. exit (right past 400). Even without traffic, going that way is about the same time. As someone said earlier, for what you'd spend in gas and car maintenance, it won't be worth it. The only traffic you'd run into downtown would be from the Grady curve through the Brookwood Interchange (where 75 and 85 split off), verses the whole top end.
Even without rush hour traffic, on 285 you'd be dealing with those 18-wheelers who practically run the road and love to travel in the far lanes (even though they are supposed to travel in the far right lanes), and even though some of them merge in the far left lane to get on I-20 West, some still continue to travel in the far two left lanes.
I wouldn't wish that stretch of 285 on anybody.
There is nothing pretty about the top end perimeter at most times of the day.
As a Fairburn resident, I would not do it.

That would be a nightmare, even going up the east side of I-285. The area between I-20 and Spaghetti Junction alone can take 30-45 minutes on heavy traffic days, either way.
Don't do the commute. Move further NE or take another opportunity. That's my advice.
