Tired of the negative Atlanta posters
I just moved here, I've been in town for exactly 3 months, I spent 6 weeks looking for a job, and it's been colder then you know what for most of that time, but I still can't bring myself to be as negative about Atlanta as a lot of people are.
I don't think it is any worse then any other major US city, and as a matter of fact, I'm enjoying myself...even though I'm poor! I wasn't expecting to be out of work for so long and I'm playing catch up. But still, I think Atlanta has a lot to offer, and once it warms up, I plan on taking advantage of Atlanta's many good sides.
I wish people that didn't have a positive time in Atlanta would post something more substanstive then "everyone is racist, no one can drive, the jobs are horrible, no one pays well, the people aren't friendly....etc." That describes most of the places in the US. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Well, SGRLPS - why don't you start a trend by posting positive experiences you've had into a post? Don't complain about complainers - because in effect you're posting a negative post yourself at that point. Just come up with the things you LIKE about the city, and post those into a thread and we'll see what happens.
You can go into any city room and see complaints. It's human nature to take the time to complain more than compliment - this is true even in customer service jobs, letters companies get about products and services, and more. Every city does have good and bad points to it. For some people the bad points may legitimately be too bad for them to deal with. Others see the glass half-full instead. Don't let it eat at you.

I have just been skimming through the threads of several other large cities....I didn't find even ONE thread that compared to the hateful/negative/offensive threads being posted in the Atlanta section. We seem to have a few goons from other cities coming in with nasty/negative comments and even creating threads. I agree, it is annoying and it seems like we could get a little assistance with this problem.

You are exactly right. Sorry you are going through so much, but, I am happy to see, as Greg put it, that you are seeing the glass half full instead of half empty. Too often people try to append their negative experiences on others. Honestly, I think that they are trying to discourage people from moving here. But, as a native, I always welcome people. Heck, Atlanta and its metro areas are not bad places to live. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Continue to keep your head up high and welcome!

well, that one is true.
although, i'm sure folks like me who are used to driving 55 on an old 2-lane getting caught up in downtown atl are most likely to blame for it.
Instead of an HOV lane, how about a "redneck lane"? I think that would do a lot to clear the congestion when we come to town.

not to take what you've said out of context but the above is actually quite accurate. by your own admission you've only been here for a few months in addition to not properly experiencing the city as of yet. once you actually see atlanta for the dump that is, you're likely to come to the same conclusions.

Kudos SGRLPS. It's nice to read positive things. We haven't been in ATL that long, 3.5 years at this point, but it has definitely been a positive experience. The disgruntled few seem determined to spread their unhappiness. A city cannot make you happy, only you can do that for yourself.

Funny thing... there's this little triangular button-thingy at the top of each post called "Report Post" that does just that, that almost no one ever seems to use.
