Here's some good news. Doesn't discount private institutions just compares the cost vs return.

1. Texas A&M
2. Univ. Texas
3. GT
4. that other school off 316

depends on your major...
it's better to go to a local college to complete your requirements then transfer to the school of your major studies. the advantage is raising your gpa and lower tuition.

Can be helpful, but then one misses out on having a true and divine college experience...!

When you transfer schools your GPA starts over, you're just given 'completes' for your classes. The tuition should be comprable as they are part of the 'state' system.

This is, assuming of course, that you even get a job.

I'm in my final semester at Tech and still no job. I could, however, probably get a job with the company I co-oped with if it comes down to it. What I've noticed from applying/interviewing the past several months is that most companies are recruiting as heavily as they usually would, but aren't hiring nearly as many people. In other words, they still recruit on campus and conduct many interviews, not even knowing for sure if there will be a spot available, but doing it as a precautionary measure.

PS. gt6974a, are you a Tech grad? It seems your alias is similar to those that use to be given out to students for email.

Having the opportunity to work at the place you had a co-op position means you are 10 steps ahead of most grads.

Be patient. Tough times but there will be a job out there for you -- it may take some time but it will happen. Good luck!!!!

(I have 2 Georgia Tech students and a 11 year old that swears that is where he is going as well).

gt6974a can answer your question himself...

however, I can say that it was the former format for doling out e-mail addresses at Tech (they stopped this?). It was tied to your mailbox and address at "Georgia Tech Station." I'm a Tech grad and I was gt6368a.

Yeah they stopped a year or two ago. Mine was/is gtg072y, but now they do like most schools and use the first letter of your first name, followed by last name, followed by a number.
