Moving in June, 2009 to area - wife works for Newell Rubbermaid and will be in Sandy Springs, my company has office in Marietta off of S. Marietta Pkwy. Children (14 and 10) will attend The Walker School in Marietta. Looking to spend high 200s, low 300s on home, was looking at East Cobb but will consider other areas - any suggestions on places to live that will give both of us an equal commute, things for the kids to do, etc. Any developments (new or established) that you live in or know of and recommend?

We should be down in April to look for a house.

Thanks.

I highly recommend contacting Rebecca Mohandiss at Keller Williams Cityside Realty (www.cityside.yourkwoffice.com/ (broken link)). She knows the Marietta/Smyrna area better than anyone and I think even sends her own kids to The Walker School so she's a wealth of information. We recently used her to sell (and then buy) a house and have never had a better experience with an agent than her. I have no benefit from posting this other than truly giving a recommendation to a wonderful agent! Good luck with your move!

Do you want to be closer to Walker or closer to work? Walker is located in the middle of Cobb County and about 10-15 miles from Sandy Springs depending on where your office will be. In Atlanta, 10-15 miles can be 45 minutes commute time.

There are a lot off good areas in between. The area is E Cobb. Since you're going to be in a private school, you might have more options if you don't care what public school you're in. However, that could affect re-sale down the road.

For the price range you mentioned, I'd recommend Kennesaw, parts of Marietta. You might also consider Woodstock. High 200s tpo low 300s will not get you a lot of house in these areas depending on what your needs are.

I live and sell all over Cobb County. There are definitely options for you but the real question is how long are you willing to have to commute (to either work or school).

I hope this helps.
