Tonight House Hunters was about Atlanta. A woman who lost her home in New Orleans during Katrina had been staying with her cousin in Decatur (the Decatur house was NICE). Anyway..... she had a starting budget of 180K but soon realized she'd have to go up.
Nice but pretty old house in Tucker for $259K with unbelievable yard and backing up to a river - 4BR but they were very very small. Gorgeous huge contemporary brick house in Lithonia, 5BR for $283K. Redone bungalow in Avondale Estates for $225K, 3BR and needed painting in a couple of rooms because of a few wild paint choices like neon yellow/orange in one of the bathrooms! Alll the houses had pretty nice decks too. She chose the biggest and most expensive in Lithonia. It was great to see some of the neighborhoods and the houses and the prices. I'm sure this will be shown several more times this week. |

Thanks for the heads up on the program. I'll try to find a repeat. |

All the neighborhoods were really well kept as were the houses and the yards. I was quite impressed. I was hoping to see some of those Craftsman homes in say Kirkwood or North Decatur.

oops forgot to mention... well they called it a river -- I would call it a creek myself, but it was a decent sized creek.

My girlfriend has HGTV on all the time and House Hunters is the only show I can stand. Please tell me the Atlanta one will be on a repeat soon! I'll have to keep an eye out and make sure and catch it.

Thanks, but I don't think that is going to work. It seems like I have some to do tomorrow.....
I'm sure it will be on some other time soon. |

I might actually stay up and watch in two hours, since I'm not working tomorrow and it might take me that long to figure out how to TIVO it.

I also big fan of HGTV house hunters. There was another episode about Fayetteville last year. Those houses are pretty nice also.

Oh I think it will be on several times this week -- that's usually how HGTV works. I love that show Hidden Potential where the architect guy shows how to spend the budget to reconfigure things. I am so hoping to see at Alanta version of that where they reconfigure/upgrade three intown Atlanta houses! Maybe we should write to them and suggest it. You never know!
They have also featured Atlanta houses on one of those shows -- what can you get for a certain amount of money (can't remember the exact title) but I came in on the tail end of the show and missed the Atlanta houses! |
