The neighborhoods that fall into both include parts of Morningside, Lenox Park, Virginia-Highland, Druid Hills, East Lake, Lake Claire, Candler Park and East Atlanta. Taxes are paid pro rata to Atlanta and DeKalb County. Students in those areas attend city of Atlanta schools, and services such as police, fire and sanitation are also city. If memory serves, DeKalb is responsible for maintenance of roads and streetlights in this area.

My family lives in the 30329 zip code in City of Atlanta Dekalb County, and my sister would attend Briar Vista if she attended public school. Perhaps it depends on what part of 30329.

Where is that? I thought 30306 extended up to the limits of Atlanta-in-DeKalb. I grew up in 30329, and I don't remember any part of it being inside the
city.
There are parts of NW DeKalb that have a Atlanta mailing address (30329, 30319, 30324, 30345), but they are not within the city limits.

That is not within the city...the city limits stop at the end of the Cheshire Square Shopping Center on LaVista.

The fact that she would attend Briar Vista shows that they do not live in the City of Atlanta.
If they were in the City of Atlanta side, she would be attending Morningside.

Yes...that's why I suggest it. NW DeKalb totally has more in common with the City of Atlanta.

Well, I'm thinking more if most of the metro area eventually incorporates ( ). Then, NW DeKalb should become a part of the City of Atlanta...not a separate city with a lame name.

Well, if there is a massive restructuring of DeKalb County/City of Atlanta that might work.
LOL--I suppose I am a renegade and enjoy being 'unincorporated'.

You aren't the only one. But I do see advantages to having a certain amount of local control over things like zoning, etc.
