Default So, how does the part of Atlanta in DeKalb County work?

If you live in Atlanta, and you're in the DeKalb portion, how do things work?

What services, if any, does DeKalb provide its Atlanta residents?

How do the taxes work?

What about voting? Does that part of Atlanta have representation on the DeKalb board? How do Fulton and DeKalb and Altanta work together?

I'm not really certain about the 'in Atlanta' part. I'm in unincorporated DeKalb with an Atlanta zipcode but reside in the center of DeKalb County. Taxes, sanitation services---everything is provided by DeKalb County.

There is a section just off LaVista Rd that is DeKalb County and City of Atlanta--that is about all I know.

You are not in the city of Atlanta. That is unincorporated DeKalb County.
The neighborhoods that fall into both include parts of Morningside, Lenox Park, Virginia-Highland, Druid Hills, East Lake, Lake Claire, Candler Park and East Atlanta. Taxes are paid pro rata to Atlanta and DeKalb County. Students in those areas attend city of Atlanta schools, and services such as police, fire and sanitation are also city. If memory serves, DeKalb is responsible for maintenance of roads and streetlights in this area.

'The neighborhoods that fall into both include parts of Morningside, Lenox Park, Virginia-Highland, Druid Hills, East Lake, Lake Claire, Candler Park and East Atlanta.'

In an earlier post I believe you said you lived near/on LaVista Rd, zipcode 30329. This is unincorporated DeKalb County with '30329' being an Atlanta zipcode. You are definitely living in DeKalb County and no need to worry about another bureaucracy.

Interesting. Very interesting. I looked at the maps on the link...

I would have thought "North Druid Hills" would have stretched a little further south and maybe a little further east.

Well, it kinda makes sense...sense I guess further south gets into "Toco Hills" and "North Decatur"...further east is still "North Decatur" and "Leafmore ___"...to the west of NDH is "Merry Hills", etc.
