Default for the Sunday AJC subscribers..

Did you have any grocery coupons in your Sunday paper yesterday? Ours had none and just wondering if that was the norm. We subscribe only for the coupons.

No, none in our paper either. I've been noticing that the coupons have been pretty light in quite a while. The ones that are in the papers seem to be mostly for non food items and junk food.

We had both Kroger and Publix flyers in ours yesterday.

The odd thing is that we had a ton of grocery coupons the week before (2/8). I remember being surprised that so many came that day (I think 4 or 5 different sections of coupons).

Bob, the flyers were in the paper, but the coupon inserts weren't.

I have the Kroger shoppers' card, and have been getting much better coupons in the mail from them directly. What I like about them is that the coupons are for things I buy regularly. I know it means "big brother" is watching, but since I'm going to use the card anyway to take advantage of sale prices, I may as well get extra $$ off the stuff I need.

Hmm, apparently none of y'all previous posters is a dedicated long-term AJC coupon clipper. In my, ahem, extensive experience, the regular coupon booklets are always absent on holiday weekends.

Blame President's Day. I am confident that regular coupon service will resume next week. Meanwhile, the Publix 1c mystery coupon was present in yesterday's paper, as usual.

I'm actually a 7-day AJC subscriber, not just for the coupons. I like reading the paper at breakfast. When my daughter was a second-grader I got her interested in reading the daily comic strips (slipping in a little reading practice over breakfast, under the guise of fun). Sadly, I guess these newspaper-reading days will quite soon be gone entirely, and my memories will become quaint tales of old and primitive times. Did you know the Christian Science Monitor has entirely ceased paper circulation?

The Presidents Day item could have detered the coupons as there were none in the Gwinnett Post.
We buy the Urinal and Constipation at the store when it has the band around it advertising the coupon content. Get the coupons and recycle the rest of the rag.

This is very sad and unfortunate. I've always loved reading the newspaper...and still do, daily...and I'm a Gen Xer! Started when I was around 7 years/second grade as well...except my "link" in was the colorful weather map in the AJC.

So true, no coupons on long weekends...

Is there a reasonable business explanation for this? Just seems odd to me.
