Thinking of ATL
I'm a single black male from boston thinking of moving to atlanta. My main motivation is to make some music industry connections. I've lived in NY (born in the bronx) and even Nevada for a short time, I'm just curios as to where the best place would be to go? I'm an aspiring Lyricist and atlanta was one of the top places I was considering (also Cali but that's reaally far and I don't think it would be a great place to start off). Please let me know what your opinion is, would atlanta give me the edge I need to find the right connections? Boston is such a dry state and there is noting going out out here.

Hello Dizy,
Atlanta is one of the most cheapest cities in the US, so it's definitely very good to start a job there if you are thinking ''money''. There is a hip neighborhood of Little Five Points by downtown Atlanta, where lots of music scenes are going on. Check out this: Little Five Points - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Good luck with writing lyrics!

As said above, it's going to depend greatly on the type of music. You've also got to consider what you're going to do for income while you try to make connections- the job market in Atlanta isn't the greatest right now, so unless you've got a pot of cash stashed away, you may have to re-think your move.

Thinkin ATL cont . . .
Hip Hop is the music, I know everyone is trying to get into that right now but I've got a unique flo that I think will bring something new to the table (especially in the south). Also I'm planning the move to be maybe a little less than a year from now say . . . Nov, Dec. I work security at a hotel now and am well liked so I may be able to get a referal. More than any thing I want to know what the best areas would be best for what I'm looking to do.

If you really think you've got something unique (and I'm sure everyone who wants to get into the business thinks that), why not flip a demo to some producers, rather than waiting a year and heading down here? It can't hurt, and it's a whole lot less risky.

I'm already workin' on a demo, an artist profile (and a mixtape on the side). But the point is that I gotta get outta boston, this place is soooo dry there's nothing going on here. I'm tired of it. I mean, if I'm gonna move than I might as well go to a place where if I'm heard and liked than I can do something about it! No matter where I go I'm leaving MA within a year so I'm just trying to feel out different places. Like I said b4 the 2 top spots I'm checking out are either Cali or ATL. If anyone's got a better hot spot (besides NY cuz out there it's every man 4 himself) than please let me know.
