Hey Spacelord75 that’s for the positive comment. That retail shopping area has 2 slots taken, a nail place (go figure) and a realty company and that’s all. It’s a shame too because that’s a great location but nothing else has come. On the other side of the road where the gas station is that retail area is full and the pizza bar on the end is packed every night. It's a club/pizza place but they do have great pizza. 2 people I know have tried to put a sports bar in that Legacy retail area but there have been some sort of issues every time. Eventually it will fill up (hopefully).

Specifically, has anything gone up in the Legacy retail space yet?

Mableton is Atlanta's best kept secret. I live near Cobblestone Creek and love the area. Very convenient to everything.

I have driven through the area around Cobblestone Creek as I work out that way and it would be nice for work living there but I don't see much. How is it convenient? I could see it if you are trying to get into town or the vinnings area but really it seems there isnt much retail except for the publix shopping area and that you would be driving fairly far to get anywhere else. Plus going up 78 towards town is a bad area and I think perhaps south would be too so without knowing much it seems that areas close by aren't so great.
Please tell me where I am wrong as I want to like it and certainly do not know the area that well. Are the schools ok?

Cobblestone Creek is about 2 miles from 285 and 1 exit from I20. Also you can take the back roads and get to Vinings or Smyrna or the Cumberland Mall/Galleria area, Marietta. or you can go West and get to Dallas/Paulding County. Also it's pretty convenient to the East/West Connector.

The key is the E/W Connector which runs just north of (and roughly parallel with) Veterans Memorial Highway.
Travel east on the E/W Connector a few miles to the Cumberland Mall area with restaurants plus a lot of other businesses just north of that spot on 41 (Cobb Parkway), the Cobb Energy Center, the Galleria Mall, and Parkway Pointe, etc. Also, Vinings Jubilee is a little bit closer with its restaurants, and the Smyrna Village Green is just up Atlanta Road. There are also smaller retail groupings at the corner of E/W Connector and South Cobb and all along South Cobb to the north.
West on the E/W Connector are a small shopping development around a Walmart, large shopping area at the intersection of the E/W Connector and Austell Road, a 22-theater movie complex, etc., and the Mable House Amphitheatre is just a hop skip and jump down Veterans Memorial to the west in the old center of Mableton, and there is a retail area on Floyd Road not all that far north of the amphitheatre.
Veterans Memorial Highway is not the main thoroughfare, really. I guess if you don't like driving five miles to places, it might not be convenient, but the fact that those five miles are on relatively low-traffic secondary streets helps quite a bit. Mableton traffic is a LOT less dense than the area around the Perimeter Mall, for example. Ugh...

I don't have kids, but I *think* the schools affiliated with Cobblestone Creek are:
HARMONY LELAND ELEMENTARY
LINDLEY MIDDLE
PEBBLEBROOK HIGH
Others will have to respond as to the quality of the above schools.

I don't have kids either so I'm not sure their quality.

I should also mention that, even though I also live in Mableton, the schools my house is zoned for are all different from the above, so the things I hear from my own specific set of neighbors (mostly positive comments) would probably not apply.

I actually think the schools are pretty terrible, from a public school perspective. There is a charter school in Mableton but I heard it's a huge wait to get in there b/c all the parents want to avoid sending their kids to the public schools. If you could afford private, though, Whitefield is right there and it is supposed to be really good, I think.
