Default Can anything stop Henry from turning into another Clayton county?

I propose this question because I have already fled Henry for greener pastures. I want to know what those of you that are still there think. I grew up in Morrow, and saw first hand what was coming and knew that the max exodus was coming, also known as White Flight. After I got back from college I settled in Henry county like so many others from Clayton county had. Now ten years later Henry county has all but turned into Clayco south! The final straw for me was going to a pageant at Dutchtown Middle school a year and half ago. I had to look around to make sure I wasnt in Riverdale. It was truly shocking for me and my wife. So with that said can anything save Henry county? My personal opinion is no! Henry followed the same idiotic growth plan that Clayton did. Lots of crappy apartments and lots of low to moderate income housing followed by very little code enforcement. What do you plan on doing? Continuing to move south? Leaving the state? What?

When you looked around the pageant what turned you off so much that you had to make sure you were'nt in Riverdale?

Have you ever been to Riverdale? Easily one of the worst places not only in this state but in the country. The pageant reflected that the same individuals that ruined Riverdale and Clayton county had taken over Dutchtown. Kids raising kids, no respect for other participants, the gangster thug mentality was on display throughout and I am not even talking about the kids. A friend of my wifes was sitting a couple rows in front of us and kept looking back and just shaking her head. That pretty much summed up how most of the civilized people in the auditorium felt. It was a total embarrasment all around, when we left one of the loudmouths that wouldnt shut up throughout was pitching a fit that her kid didnt win in the lobby. Since then almost all of my daughters friends have been moved to other schools or enrolled in private schools, their parents were as disgusted as we were. Its clayco all over again!

Not advocating anything...just giving a fact...

The Dutchtown area is not a reflection of the whole Henry County at all. It is the part closest to Clayton County.

I'm just surprised that you didn't already know what kind of environment your daughter was experiencing at school prior to this "Riverdale-ish" event. That aside...it sounds like you've condemned all of Henry County due to some rude/loudmouth people - which I imagine can be found in every community in any part of the world. It seems a little extreme to me, especially the part about parents withdrawing their kids from a school which I assume they had been pleased with up until that night.

I'm not sure I get it...is there more to the story?
