what part? There's the industrial, blue collar part by the interstate and then there's the more upscale area by South Fulton Parkway.

DeaconJ,

Those are some beautiful houses. Are they for sale, or are the prices listed their 'sold' prices? The $49k house looks nice from the pic, but what are the laws about Renovation? Additions etc? How are these neighborhoods? How are Schools? They look nice on paper, but are there local crackheads lurking to make it their home while I'm at work ? Will my kids 'have' to go to a private school if I were to move there? I'm just curious.

Anyone else have any good information on East Point? I have been there, and wasn't too crazy of the area I was in. There was a Kroger off the I-85 exit, from what I remember. I dont remember the street name though.

DeaconJ, if you can please DM me the links where you found these houses and prices. Thanks.

yeah, that's a great area. Very nice homes, emerging retail, close to the city yet still somewhat rural and pastoral

The neighborhoods are just like the houses in the photos. They are all quiet, well-kept, single family areas. But you would be better off driving or walking through the neighborhoods to see for yourself. For those few photos with numbers, that was the asking price...I don't actually remember where I found them, but I did a yahoo search for East Point houses that resulted in several different real estate sites. Try that? All of the houses were in Eagan Park, Conley Hills, and Jefferson Park...but there are other nice neighborhoods in E.P. and some in College Park.

You were still in the city of Atlanta at that Kroger on Cleveland Ave. just off of I-85 and I-75. East Point doesn't begin until a mile or so down Cleveland, and that is one of the worst areas that I know of in E.P. You need to see more...that's like someone driving down Boulevard and thinking all of Atlanta is the same way.

Am I in for a surprise, or are you being serious (about visiting and walking through these neighborhoods)? I will give them a look when I get there in a few weeks. Something to think about. I'm surprised the $49k has not sold, if the neighborhood is not that bad . There has got to be something wrong with it. I will do a search. Thanks for the heads up. .

We learn something new everyday. All the areas you mention, are they good areas too? (Eagan Park, Conley Hills, Jefferson Park)

You are right, it was Cleveland Ave area. As soon as you mentioned, it clicked. That area looks like crap. That brings more questions. Any news of that area improving anytime soon? I will make it my business to take a trip there when I get there. Thanks again.

I am being serious...I live in Conley Hills and have for a few years and I've never even seen or heard about any crime. The three neighborhoods I listed are all in East Point. I don't really know if there is something wrong with that house or not. I've seen it driving by on the street, but you can't tell without a closer look. It could need extensive renovations or it might be a foreclosure - I do remember the ad listed the last sale price of the house being much higher.

That area of Cleveland Avenue isn't in East Point, it's in the city of Atlanta. It isn't anywhere near my house and I don't ever have any occasion to go there, so I'm not really sure if there is a plan in Atlanta to clean it up.

For a second, I thought you were being facetious . Thanks again. I will definitely look into the areas you mention. What exit off I-85 would I take to see these neighborhoods (Conley Hills etc) ? I will do some research on these areas. How far are you from Downtown and the Airport? Also any info on schools and shopping in the area? How far from Camp Creek? Sorry for so many questions.
Thanks again.

Mr. NY, Best way to get to East Point would be to take 166 aka Langford Parkway off of 75/85, which is exit 242 or 243. Get off @ Stanton Rd and take the access road which will put you in East Point proper.

Downtown is about 10-15 minutes, airport, I would say 5-10, if that. Depends, if you wanna drive on the surface streets or not.

Camp Creek is about 10 minutes. Either, take 166 and jump on 285 and get off @ exit 2 and you are Camp Creek Marketplace.

DeaconJ, how is the Delowe Dr area??? I've seen a few nice houses on that...Seems like a main road though...
