Hello all,

Highly considering a move to the ATL, and wanted to know if there is a growing Dominican community. Is there any Dominican restaraunts or hair salons?

Regards

there are a some here but not a whole lot. The ones that are here are slowly but surely taking over the hair salon market for ethnic hair. It seems like thats the trendy thing for the girls here now is to go the Dominican hair salon

I see Dominican hair salons everywhere, OTP. A simple Google search brings up several. Great place to meet other Dominicans. Not sure about ITP though... it's probably cheaper for them to set up shop in the 'burbs.

Hey!

I won't lie...don't remember ever seeing any Dominican restaurants. As for hair salons, I've only seen just a few.

As for the population, in my experience, I haven't seen too many Dominicans. I can count the number I've come into contact with on my fingers, which is surprising because I remember knowing so many people who moved from New York to Georgia and New York (not so much upstate) has so many Dominicans living there.

I hope that this doesn't depress you. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I went to a Dominican salon in Marietta few times, but I'm not sure if it's still open. They had so many clients that I would think so.

I dated a Dominican man earlier this year, and I didn't really get the impression that the community is strong here. I am not saying that there are not many Hispanic people here, but not specifically people from The Dominican Republic. We are talking about The Dominican Republic and not Dominica, right?
