Atlanta Traffic is Horrible 20 west into douglas 20 east into lithonia 285 from south cobb to lavista 400 to Downtown druid hills to downtown and then from morrow to henry county is bad. Now whats crazy is coming to downtown it goes from 12 lanes to 16 thats both sides cobine and there is still traffic. Traffic usually starts a 3 and usually ends at 8 thats a long rush hour. Even Marta is packed in the morning and abetween 5 to 8 I been here 6 years and i have seen this every day even on saturdays. Thats not normal traffic. since i know all the back roads It really doesnt bother me

One reason Atlanta traffic is so bad is that many people live on one side of town and work on the other. A good friend of mine lives out near Chateau elan and works at Lockheed. Theres Tons of that type stuff. So you factor in how spread out the city is and that people dont live close to their work many times and you get lots of congestion.

Thats at least one little piece of it.

Which also means the bad spots are mainly on the freeways. Those that don't commute on the freeways don't seem to think the traffic is bad.

And God knows they don't do that in other cities...everyone in every other city lives next door to where they work. Someone needs to spread that bit of knowledge in Atlanta so our traffic won't be the worst.

Gotcha.

95 is a hell in N.VA and S. MD (below College Park). The last time I drove up, I made the mistake of getting to DC around 5amish, because of that, I sat in rush hour for 2 or 3 hours...The delays in DMV made me lost all my time that I had made up overnight...smh...

All that roadwork and still a parking lot...

I guess the whole Atlanta has the worst traffic in the nation article from Forbes is now bunk? Forbes: Atlanta traffic the worst in America - Atlanta Business Chronicle: (As I look at an estimated travel time of 1 hour and 35 minutes for a commute that can be done in 40)

May 1, 2008...the article is almost a year old. By the way, who sees Forbes as an expert on traffic? Any hands?

Actually we have it pretty good here compared with people that have to deal with 285, 85 and 78.
I come from out a exit 34(Hwy 5) and most of the time I'm trying to navigate my way to the Holmes train station. On average it's 40-45 minutes.
