estimates on utility bills, taxes on Alpharetta, GA
hi all
we are considering buying a 1990 ranch near old milton pkwy in alpharetta, ga.
i see on zillow.com taxes are steep in alpharetta..approx $2600 for a 1800 sq ft ranch. is that in line with alpharetta in general?
also, can someone share their ranch experience with respect to utility bills, cleaning inside and backyard...
the price of the ranch is inline with the neighborhood but we just might be raising our cost of living in this house if taxes + bills go pretty high.
thanks
atlz

Yes, that's about right. I live in Fulton County and taxes in Fulton are higher than most other places; especially elite areas such as Alpharetta, which is in the northern part of Fulton County (up there with John's Creek, Milton, Roswell, Sandy Springs, etc.).
Taxes are high, but, the schools are great in respect to home values.

You'll also have City taxes in Alpharetta, maybe 1/5th(?) that of the county tax. Overall, you may pay an extra $1000 to $1500 for that priced home that you are looking at than say Forsyth County. That said, you may find the schools well worth the extra cost.

Yes, that's right! How could I forget that citizens in Fulton County pay city AND County taxes! The city taxes are not usually higher than county taxes but with Alpharetta, you never know.
Are there any Alpharetta residents that can attest to this?

As I stated in the post above yours, the city tax is about 1/5th of the county tax (for me at least).

Okay, that was stated before (sorry ) and that is right. My City of Fairburn taxes are exactly 1/5 of my Fulton County taxes.

My address is Alpharetta, but technically I live in the City of Milton in Fulton County.
I paid over $4,500 in taxes last year. Yippee! Worth every penny.
