I work with lots of great African-Americans, but sadly, if an unknown black male approaches me on the streets I am going to be suspicious of him. If an unknown Japanese guy approaches me, then not so much. Is that racist or just being smart based on statistics? Stereotypes are based on truth for the most part, but not completely. Right or wrong, white people are afraid of young, black males.
DO NOT speak for all white people...how insulting. Thankfully your views are not shared by the vast majority of white America, so you are not welcome to speak for the entire race.

What is really too bad is that there are people without enough sense to realize that Carlton Banks is not representative of black males. He is the exception, not the rule.

If any unknown male approaches me on the streets of a big city, I keep walking. The chances are slime of that scenario being for something innocent and legitimate - it doesn't matter what color the unknown male may be. Someone who only is suspicious of a black male in that scenario really doesn't know much about the real world.

Everything I posted was 100% true. What would be exquisite would be to replace the majority of black males in this town with asian males. We wouldn't have to lock our doors at night and there wouldn't be all these kids running around wondering who their dad was. You would also find that previously poorly performing schools would suddenly become excellent schools without changing anything else. I guess we wouldn't have anyone to sell us drugs though.

Actually, I would be willing to bet that the majority of white people are afraid of young, black males. Who would you rather be approached by in a dark alley. A young black male or a young Japanese male?

Sad maybe, yet factual. Which of my above points do you disagree with? And once again, I really couldn't care less what you think of me.

When I was in high school the male asian gangs were the most vicious, dangerous groups in the whole school. Everyone was afraid of them, including the black males. You are very ignorant if you are silly enough to think that asians don't commit crimes.

In a dark alley, I think I would be nervous about being approached by either.
A dear friend of mine (a black male, Atlanta resident) told me years ago, "The sad fact of my life is that no matter what I do in my life, as a stranger I will always be approached with suspicion by whites." I couldn't disagree with him, in all honesty...the media inundates us with stories of crimes committed by black males, and it is hard not to internalize it. I don't know how to change it, and it is IMO a terrible burden for black men to carry.

Not on the same scale as African-American males. Research the statistics and get back to me. I never said they don't commit crimes.

Considering the number of complaints that are coming in over this thread, I'd say everything and every thought that could be expressed already has (more than once in some cases). So enough for this one. Closed.
