Anyone lving in Lilburn? How is it?
I am living in Alpharetta now, but have a job in lawrenceville and don't want to deal with that commute for too much longer.
Looking at houses in Lilburn because I have heard it is a nice place, but want some more info.
I hear the crime in gwinnett is high, but was told Lilburn is much better than lawrenceville or duluth.
Have heard stories (gwinnett was only location I heard) about youths waiting at your house for you to get home and then rob you at gunpoint when you get out of your car. Any truth to this type of story?
I do find it hard to believe that you can find bigger homes that have bigger lots and pools for much much less than you can here in Alpharetta without assuming that there is crime nearby. Is there another reason why homes are so much cheaper?
All this is just rumblings and I don't know how seriously to take any of it so if anyone here has more info to share that would be great.

Three of those little miscreants were arrested recently -- along with the Mom and Grandma.

Lilburn is trying to outlaw singing and dancing, just like in the movie Footloose.

It's a ban on karaoke (an attempt to limit the number of bars opening in the town).
Atlanta isn't perfect by any means, but you couldn't pay me to move out of Atlanta into Gwinnett County. I have never understood the "Gwinnett is Great" appeal.

Gwinnett appeal is affordable housing and good schools.
If you work in Lawrenceville, I would recommend city of Duluth or Sugarloaf CC area or city of Suwanee area. Sure, you hear crime in Duluth but most of crimes (from news) are in apartments in Gwinnett place mall area and the area right side of I-85. Those areas are in unincorporated part of Duluth, not in city of Duluth itself. Check out Scan gwinnett for yourself.
Also, you will find most housings in city of Duluth and Sugarloaf CC areas are 250,000 or above. A lot of areas in Gwinnett are in transitive period (i.e. they maybe nice now but may not be nice in the future) because there are a lot of affordable housing (200,000 or less). Due to relatively high price in Duluth and Sugarloaf CC area, those areas are highly unlikely be affected.
The law (regarding Karaoke in sports bar) is more complicated than it looks. Lilburn mayor is "buddy buddy" with a big developer who just bought a big land around downtown lilburn. Lilburn mayor basically tried to crack down the new immigrants and he doesn't want to Lilburn develop a seedy reputation (and lose the deal).
