In our delusional world - I think it is time we begin to take note that "Black" people's skin is brown and "White" people's skin is beige - Both are a shade of brown as are all people (even Albino's). Don't believe it compare a "White" person's skin next to vanilla icecream or a stirafoam cup - you will see the skin is beige when put next to pure white; and the sun tans it to a darker shade of brown just like any other brown tone turns darker brown with the rays of sunshine or vitamin D (follow directions - don't overdose - too much toxic to liver).
It's not about color - it is the government babies and those who are victim or only trained to survive with gangster or street life skills that are being moved around - I think that is good for many of them - because many who have not been able to see many options are being able to graduate to a less violent atmosphere and become free thinker's; whereas some of the other's are continuing to be used by some greedy educated disillusionists' to make dangerous money elsewhere.
People are not that different - if we lay down some fundamentals - like - simple truth's that reveal more similarities than differences in people - more eyes will begin to open little by little and adjust to the light. People want to plan to be safe and to survive another day - with hopes of better days. With safety being understood as the common ground we seek - skin tone is not an issue in that atmosphere.

I agree it sucks for many blacks, because there are quite few that are hard workers, etc. Unfortunately there are twice or three times as many that arent and make the rest of the blacks look bad. Unfortunately it is a cobination of things including culture, upbringing, economic status etc. But even for the ones that can go to colleges the numbers dont fare much better, even at HBCU's, here is a rcent article frot he AP showing that only 29% of black men graduate and thats in 6 years! Men struggling to finish at black colleges - Race & ethnicity- msnbc.com

Twice or three times as many, huh? What's that smell? Ah, yes...freshly baked, homemade statistics.

So, how long did it take you to meet every black person in America, evaluate his or her "hard worker, etc"-ness, make your calculations and produce this little jewel of information? You must be exhausted.

It simply amazes me that many of you speak in a divisionary tone.. black, whites or others. I am not saying that you are racist but are not fully awaken as of yet..We are here on this earth as "The Human Race" with different skin tones. Just because a bag of popsciles have different colors and flavors does not change the fact that their make up are the same (ice water, cold and refreshing ) except for flavor nothing is different... just like mans "Skin tone" What makes us different is culture.. and moral values. Our place in society relies on family involvment in rearing our children and providing a good education that's what will determine how we develope as individuals.. Blacks growing up in a perdominately white area will likely be more like " The whitee" What exactly is a Whitee? the opposite is true for whites or any other with a differance in skin tone not to forget living with or without wealth. (Fresh Prince of Belliare or The Waltons are pretty good examples..) What about the wild child supposedly raised by a wild pack of wolves? Don't get too close or you will get bit... : ) So much for skin color..Terms like White trailer trash, getto and like are all depicting the economic conditons of the people and where they live because of housing affordibility. These people that have lesser means, have the same rights as any other with out bringing color into the fold..Not to mention that we are wasteing a tremendious amount of brain power in many of these (which are found to be brillant) disadvantage people.. How sad.. The people ( i tend to call them deceivers/ traitors to themselves ,as well as. the people) that we put in power are easily corrupted from of all of the negitive values that we are all taught to stay away from, Power, greed, envy, lust on and on.. We must all not forget that there is a never changing " Powers that be" that have an aganda to permote false division among the masses so there would be contempt and unrest toward each other 'forcing the ingnorant people to turn to the elected for direction..They establish false misleading stories in the media and purposely underfund schools and projects for the under class as one of their weapons. Do not be deceived into thinking this is just the political elite but you must know the Religious establishments are also most surely involved . look at the Mideast, if it were not for religion that place would have been probably without war for thousands of years but the opposite is true. This is why we are in the war in Iraq and Afghanistain. No it's Not just OIL...This is what has been going on for eons.. What is better for a potential dictator to gain POWER than cause unrest.. Hitler, Chevez , W.Bush? ring a bell. When there is a unequality of anything , money, food, land etc. and the unwillingness to share ; a divisional man made condition exist.. i.e class warfare, civil war and a high crime rate which is a type of civil war in itself. We must look to nature and study it's intellagence to create equality among all sentient beings. When everything is taken away, we all tend to sit at the same table with the suffering the same hunger pains.. and sense of lost.. remember the ones that had the most will feel the down fall much worst and probably are the ones that will ending up taking their own lives.. Recent Exceptions to this is New Orleans and the corrupt financial markets in this country. The government failed new Orleans but the financial markets/elite they bailed them out! This allowed for the perpetrators of the financial mess to not have to sit at "the table of Pain" and suffer with the masses.and work for redemption. This is unfair wrong and at the least EVIL .. The poor will endure.. " The meek shall inherate the earth." We must take our blinders off and realize that our place on this earth is not about , materalism, nationalism ( I am American, Russian, or whatever ) or the false race card but human cohabitation and how we share and conduct ourselves in moral behavior..Man has enslaved each other for thousands of years study up on Egyptians, Moores and the Vikings. What the Vikings alone did to the Anglo, Slavic ( Where the word Slave came from) masses during their hundreds of years of the destruction of the whole Europe... their have been atrocities forever.. Lets LOVE , mutually understand each other and move on in unity.. Let's take the play book out of the supposedly elites hands ...( in the Universal sense they are probably the most stupid beings in existence) It is pretty safe to acertain that we ( the people of the world) all have exactly the same needs and wants.. we just have to be able to look at each other with non-religious, color blind eyes and help out each other out... politics baa humm bug.!...we must limit the power of our leaders. It is the lack of the distrubution of wealth that allows for corruption to survive in the world.. What about the democracy that the ancient Greeks practiced .. a citizen can seek office but was limited to a term and that was it..They even picked the elected from a lot!! no consective terms were allowed , this stopped rampant corruption. Yes, i relize that we need educated people in these positions.. This was to point out how important "The People " ran the country Not professional politicians..We can only raise moral and productive children when there is family input ( not only family but a tribal / society input just like the ingenious tribes that still exist today ) in their lives and true economic equality for all... Unite in one cause as intelligent spirits that are in existence in these Human bodies. Rev. John Mathieu

But obviously, a lot of people DO care!

But WHY is it even an issue?

Would Atlanta really change if the black percentage drops below 50%? And if you peole DO think it will change, how?!
Im Black and I don't give a s#!t...If people move they move. Im just being american.

Color is a visible difference, and is one of the easiest ways to sort into groups. In Kindergarten students learn to sort items in various ways...by color, by size, and by shape. Color is the simplest way to group items for a 5 year old. It's one of the first ways we learn to distinguish between two things.

I'm certainly not advocating that society should be "divided", but just that we as human beings differentiate between colors - and that probably will never change. The problem arises when we go further than visually distinguishing between colors and start making general assumptions about people of similar colors...which ends up leading to thoughts that one color is better or worse than another. If we could convince people with those thoughts that color doesn't actually determine other human characteristics, i.e. color doesn't determine a person's character, then that would solve a lot of society's problems.

Im sorry I didnt mean to offend anyone, obviously it wasnt a statistic it was just an illustration, I never said it was a fact or even alluded to that. Unfortunately, one bad cookie in the bunch makes it bad for everyone, thats why I said it comes down to culture, economic stautus, etc; next time try reading the whole post. And the AP article wasnt something I made up, that was a fact. But I will be the first to admit that most peoples perceptions come from what they have seen and experienced with other races, mine included, and unfortunately even the black friends I have with parents as white collar professionals ended up doing nothing, even after going to great schools. Was it a problem of economics, no, unfortunately culture like the Rev said.
