Default What is Suwanee like?

Any info on Suwanee would be great. Schools, neighborhoods, crime, shopping, family activities etc. My husbands job will be in Suwanee. The Edinburgh neighborhood looked nice. We preferred Alpharetta but based on the posts the commute will be horrible. Would love to know what kind of a community it is and if people like it there. Thanks.

onthemove is on a distinguished road
We moved to Suwanee right before Christmas and have loved it so far. We chose Suwanee because it's close to my husband's job (Johns Creek) and has almost everything we need. The schools are very good. My daughter goes to Level Creek Elementary. Our neighborhood is very friendly. There were kids asking if my daughters could come out and play even before our household goods arrived from Texas! Suwanee has lots of activities that take place at the Town Center. Check out www.suwanee.com for a long list of the upcoming events for this spring, summer and fall. As for crime, it seems pretty safe. I know they have had one murder since we moved here, but it was the first since 1965! I keep my doors locked and watch the kids when they are playing outside, but I'd do that anywhere. Suwanee is very close to Discover Mills Outlet Mall and to the Mall of Georgia in Buford. No need to get on the interstate to go to either one! Traffic here is horrible. You do have to plan your day around rush hour. When we were preparing to move here I thought that traffic would be on the interstates and no big deal since I stay at home with the kids. Well, the small roads are the worst! Traffic gets backed up at the stoplights and you literally can't move! I've never seen such a thing!!!
Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Good luck!

Thanks for the information. Do you know anything about Edinburgh? What are some nice neighborhoods and better schools in the area. I have one in elementary, middle and high school. So basically every school. My husbands job will be on Satellite Blvd NE.

I relied heavily on the greatschools.net website when we were house hunting. Edinburgh the subdivsion is off of Suwanee Dam, isn't it? That's not too far from where we are.

Atlanta's premier public golf course - St Marlo Country Club would be a better choice than Edinburgh
