If you love Obama stickers and laid back smart people you'll love Dekalb. I find the people of Dekalb to be much more open minded and intelligent from a social perspective. In Dekalb, I believe that many same-sex couples move there because they get benefits.. should thought i'd mention that because that says they are more open and modern than Cobb.

Cobb=stuck in civil war past... literally, go to the Cobb county courthouse and it looks like you stepped back in time 40 years... LOL, gaudy interior decorations with civil war paintings adorn the walls...Cobb county's central city, Marietta, is a slum-town full of washed up old lawyers and street corners filled with illegal aliens begging for work. Go to downtown Decatur in Dekalb and it feels like you travelled ahead in time 50 years... I"M NOT KIDDING!
That is a crude and unnecessary manner in which to describe the differences between the two counties. There are plenty of conservatives who live in Dekalb County.

We love living near Emory/CDC. My spouse is only about 5 minutes from work. We almost never have to get on any Atlanta highways (75, 85, 285, or 400). We take MARTA if we have to go to the airport. There are nearby parks and woods where we can walk. A public tennis court and library are also within close walking distance.

We're very happy where we ended up, thanks to helpful recommendations from the great folks at the Atlanta Forum.

Sorry, we can't comment on Cobb County as we rarely have to go OTP.

Idiotic is the only statement that I can make for such a blindly partisan post!

blondandfun has a dry sense of humor.

I visited Marietta a few years ago and it reminded me of Decatur but I don't really know what it's like to live there. From the posts I've read here it sounds 'diverse', in general--traditionally more conservative than DeKalb. I'd say many in the state of Georgia are 'Moderates' or 'Free Thinkers'.
My $.02

Some of Cobb County (Vinings, Cumberland) is ITP.

But IMO it is fair to say that DeKalb on the whole is more liberal. I would consider the presence of Emory University, Agnes Scott College and Oglethorpe University to be a factor here.

Yes, that is true, but still the poster that I originally referred to made a ridiculous comment about conservatism comparing the more conservative cobb county to the more liberal dekalb county.

It really comes down to where you can find a job in most cases.

Obama voter here in extreme northeastern Cobb. I think LD is right, and so was the advice we received to look in east Cobb for good schools etc., when my family came here on a job transfer. The neighbors are pretty solidly conservative, it's true, but there are worse things!
