Tybee Island?
Looking for the quickest drive to a beach. Looks like Tybee Island is it. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where is the best place to stay there?

We are flexible, hotel or condo. The hotels I see online look a tad sketchy.

I'd post this in the Savannah forum.
I have no idea what it would be like now but fhe DeSoto, hotel, is near the center of the beach and there are others nearby.

you might try checking tripadvisor (.com) for reviews of hotels in the area. i always check it out before making any reservations.

I used to stay at the Ocean Plaza, decent accomodations at a reasonable price (or at least it was 5 years ago).

Thanks for the info. Love tripadvisor too, but it there wasn't much there for Tybee Island. I will go to the Savannah forum.

Tybee island rentals
Don't stay in the motels. Most are overpriced and smell bad. Ocean plaza has a huge parking lot between the hotel and the beach. Desoto is ok. Has just been rebuilt. We go a few times a year and have found that renting a condo is so much nicer and so
etimes cheaper

Oddly enough I just came back from Tybee Island a couple hours ago. I went for a long weekend with some friends and had an awesome time, it's a very relaxed place. Here is where I stayed Welcome to Mermaid Cottages on Tybee Island, Georgia . It was awesome, like staying in someone's home! Good luck!

We always stay in town. It is only a 15 mile drive to the beach and much much cheaper. Plenty of motels on Abercorn St.
