Default Best suburbs of Atlanta.

What are the best suburbs of Atlanta according to the opinions of people who live in the metro Atlanta area? Also, even though Dekalb county is filled to the brim with liberals, would a place like Dunwoody be a nice area for a moderate conservative to call home?

Yes.

Even though Dunwoody is in DeKalb County (the extreme northern tip), it is a part of Georgia's 6th Congressional District (safely and solidly Republican).

"Best" suburbs based on what? Are you basing your selection of a new town solely on the liberal/conservative nature of the citizens?

Most would say North Fulton and East Cobb as being the "best suburbs". Mostly a conservative area as well FYI.

This is what we've heard also. Due to this, we purposely bought in South Forsyth county (just across the county border from North Fulton) so that we would be in a great area but have lower taxes.

I would call Dunwoody 'moderate'...it has a large Jewish community, after all, and they tend to be liberal in their views.

True to what Lovin and Take said...a lot of Atlanta's suburbs are very republican, but they are largely moderate.

The 6th congressional district for example...moderate republicans (not ultra-conservative religious zealots like some people think!).

Newbie here, I just registered. I live in Smyrna, been here 15 years. I love it and agree it's a pretty conservative area.
