Any Atlanta Cops out there? Does the Atlanta Red Dog Unit still exist?
I have heard that the Atlanta Police Department had ended the "Red Dog" Unit in the Atlanta Police Department many years ago. Is this true? And if so, is there a drug unit that has replaced it? If so, what is the name of the unit?
Also, are there names for any other units within the Atlanta Police Department, i.e. (gang units, drug units, firearms units, etc...)
I have many more questions related to the Atlanta Police Department, but I will just start here. I am hoping that there are some police officers that take part in this forum. If not, at least someone who is VERY knowledgeable of the ins and outs of the Atlanta Police System.

I have a hunch that you would have to contact APD. I also have a hunch that you 'know' that those involved in such investigations will probably not tell you much --should not, etc.

Thank you very much. Neil0311, are you knowledgeable of how things work in a Police Dept.?
I don't know why I didn't see that before. Seems like I remember googling Red Dog Unit, but didn't find it. Now I google it, and there it is. The first link. Oh well.
Do you know how the crime Zone system works and how it affects the officers? Does an officer get stationed to a specific crime zone? Or is that just a way to organize the beats?
I don't see why anyone wouldn't answer these questions. Its not like this is some type of classified information or anything.

I can only imagine with all that goes on online there are security issues that could become problematic.

Sorry, I have very little understanding of how things work at the PD, and aim to keep it that way.
