East Atlanta Area
Can anyone help me? The other night I was looking at HGTV and saw a couple looking for new home in Atlanta. One of the new subdivisions they were in was called East something.... Does anyone have any idea what subdivision this was. They ended up purchasing a home and having the builder modify and upping the sales price to $450,000.00. My family wants to move to Atlanta, and this neighborhood was absolutely beautiful. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Did it look like an older area with infill houses, or was it a brand new subdivision out in the burbs? East Atlanta Village would be older homes for the most part. It could have been "East Cobb", out in Cobb County if it was something newer.

Either they way over bought for the neighborhood or the price tag was off. Don't see anything listed for much over 300k.
Real Estate & Homes for Sale - Zillow
I'd be leery of buying that far south in Atlanta. There are far better homes in the suburbs that don't need gated communities.

That's a matter of opinion. Not everyone wants to live on Wisteria Lane.

Thanks gerrynyc!! That's it! Those homes were just beautiful. When the kids are out for the summer, we are going house shopping there. Does anyone know anything about that area, the schools, crime rate, shopping?

Looks like private schools are the only responsible choice for that area- every public school in the zip got a "1" or "2" rating on the greatschools scale. Of course, the actual school kids who live there attend may be in another zip, but it still doesn't sound too promising at first glance.

East atlanta
I also watched that same TV episode. Wanting a formal dining room and finished basement. Their final price seemed high to me for the area and the current market. There are alot of good deals in Atlanta and absolutely the best time to buy. Let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with.

Prices have been going DOWN in the new construction subdivisions in that area and that HGTV episode was a repeat (I saw it a number of months ago). The builder is The Housing Group, you can google them. But search this forum for Eastside Walk, Parkside Walk, The Preserve East Atlanta (different builder, same area); others have posted about the pros/cons of the area.
