What does this post have to do with Southern Blacks and Northern Blacks, especially when you reference California?

Southern Black Culture and Southern White Culture are very, very similar...only slight, minute differences (if any). My point--here in the American South, it's just Southern Culture.

(if the arbitrary, invented racial divide can be overcome...and I hope it will eventually...it will be such a beautiful (Southern!) thing!)
Hmmm.... haven't seen many Southern Blacks fly the Confederate flag on their trucks since I've been here... don't see many of them in the Republican party either... they eat the same food and have similar accents but that's about it as far as an outsider like myself can tell.

Too bad you're not Southern...

your confederate flag and republican party references are part of the "racial divide" that I mentioned earlier. Other than that, cultures are very similar, basically identical:

1. Food.
2. Accent/Dialect
3. Religion
4. Child-Rearing
5. Music Overlap/Origins
6. Common Colonial Ancestry/Legacy
7. History
8. Sense of Place
9. Values (Conservative)
5.

southern people in general are more friendly and have less in common with northeners. southern blacks and whites are more fun to be around IMHO, just let people see that youre not the typical uptight northener and they will welcome you.

Black people in the south can have very limited exposure. NOT ALL...but you know what I mean. Coming from Cali I could see where southern black could do the "What type of negro is you?" saying they always say lol. Jax has a lot of Navy transplants though...Atl has a lot of business transplants, but the southern blacks are probably the same. Some people just don't know there is world outside of their porch. I feel your pain man.

HUh? I notice there wasn't any reply to this? Does anyone understand what he meant?

If your chick wants to run to Atlanta man....don't chase here there!

Atlanta is just other major city its not the land of opportunity. Create your own opportunity where you stand bruh.

Ima be real with you dude, you seem like an ok cat with ideas and such. I picked up on the not being a thug thing, you attend church and play golf. That dope....Here is the problem. YOU ARE TOO WELL ROUNDED! People in the south they are all friendly as first but mention an idea or thought they are NOT familiar with and guess what??? They now do not like you. I'm for real. The southern blacks especially don't like ideas that are different from the southern black culture. Mention golf to the limitedly exposed black southerner and watch the look you get, mention going hiking or going to take a girl to see a show at a movie palace or Running Bums off the chess tables at Woodruff Park(I had to throw that one in there). They have this look on their face of confusion. It sucks I had to explain to some blacks here what a movie palace was. I know what you are going through, only advice I can tell you is do what you love, even if you have to do it solo, eventually you will keep seeing the same people at the places and things that interest you. If you wanna play golf, tennis, chess, NASCAR, Baseball game, museums, the Zoo, the arts, the festivals etc etc go for it bruh, don't wait for another southern black to join you, you will only feel bad and hate where you live. Stay busy enjoying your life and eventually the right people will be attracted to you. Stay on your level. If someone is not into what you are into, move away from them, no matter what color they are. Don't move from where you are, just do more research. Peace & Love.

Why is that northern blacks expect southern blacks to know everything and to be worldly, but many northern blacs from the city have never been outside of their city or even bourough.I have had people in New York never been anywhere out of Harlem tell my im "country" because im from Georgia.Never mind the fact that ive travelled all over the world and have 2 degrees.SOME of My northern cousins are rude, they have a poor work ethic, but they think they know more than anybody else.I have found ignorance runs everywhere. In the cities their are more cultures and races so they are exposed to more wordldy things. However ask them if they know anything about the origins of foods , places or things, they know much and do not want to know.Yet time and time again its southern blacks that get labeled with the "slow" or ignorant mentality.Blacks in the south have created their own institutions of higher learning, cultural things like food and music, and even political leadership.I do not agree with this:"YOU ARE TOO WELL ROUNDED! People in the south they are all friendly as first but mention an idea or thought they are NOT familiar with and guess what??? They now do not like you. I'm for real. The southern blacks especially don't like ideas that are different from the southern black culture. They have this look on their face of confusion".This is just as true in New York ,Philly or Baltimore.Blacks up north have a better than you attitude. If you speak with an southern accent if you are black (or even if you are white)Northerners think you are slow.
You have educated, well traveled southern blacks in the south, just like you do in the northI am black southern and I was born and raised here.I have lived all over the world and was raised by 2 educated parents with doctorates who were raised in south georgia. Most of my moms sisters and brothers went to college as well as my all of my dad's siblings. My grand mother went back to college to get her doctorate in Education when she was in her 50's.All of her sisters and brothers either had their own business or went to college. My grandfather was in the Army and my dad grew up in Colorodo,Texas and Georgia This when they were in constant fear of being lynched.

You really should be honest and realize that their is a bias against people from the south. Its more rural places than up north but in the rural places up their, they do not no much either.People learn whats relative to their lives. Many people in the north or the south are stuck in their ways and do not want to change. Some just never have the opportunity, but to act like this is only southerns is ridiculous.
