Thanks Aries! Does this mean that this area: "near Wynns Pond, Beaver Dam Park, near the intersection of 74 and 54" is improving now, on the way up? Is there still Section 8 housing there or maybe it's gone now.... I am very appreciative for everyone's help.

PTC and Fayetteville were on our list of places to consider when we were considering leaving Fla. Very nice there but we were more inclined to look at Fayettville.
We crossed it off as there was no way I was going to put up with Atlanta-Hartsfield airport ( I fly pretty often and after you get used to airports like Ft Myers Fl places like Atlanta become, well, never mind . Anyone who has gone to both know ).
Adjusting to paying a state income tax would have cost us thousands too.
But in general we liked that area and would have bought one had the numbers made sense. We went with a realtor named Bill Hudson. Bill was a real professional and extremely helpful.

Most of Peachtree City is east of 74.
However, lots of new development (upscale, John Weiland, etc) is happening now west of 74 near Wynnmeade and MacDuff Parkway.
The new Wilksmoor Village, will be totally west of 74.

Actually, I mis-wrote. Wynnmeade is a lower-to-moderately priced neighborhood. It is just not a crime-infested hell hole! Sorry about this.

See my new post above about Wynnmeade.
Don't be overly-concerned about Section 8 housing, etc. in Peachtree City.
It is minimal and there is really nothing to worry about.
Just find some houses and neighborhoods you like, and then you can get more specific.

No, Wynnmeade is not Section 8 housing, it just has a very high rate of rental properties where residents can sometimes be less interested in keeping the properties up. As for Section 8, Harmony Village is the only one I know of, and that is on Peachtree Parkway just south of Crosstown Road (near Balmoral Villiage Apartments).

There really are no crime nests in Peachtree City, just areas older than others.
Its a weird little wannabe Mayberry, almost. The cops pay you more attn than do the potential criminals!
But, if you're really concerned, take a look at Senoia or Tyrone . . .

If you move to peachtree city please stay away form Balmoral Villiage apartments. The management sucks, the apartments are old, there are bugs, it is hard to get them to repair anything on the apartments. We have our guest bathroom, that is pealing form the sealing form a leak upstairs that they have not fixed since we have been there for almost 18 months. The best thing about it is that they will let us out of our lease with a two months notice.
