Peachtree City - bad area???
Peachtree City seems to fit us perfectly. However, I have noticed prices ranging from mid to low 100's to "much more." Naturally, I realize that the more expensive homes will be nicer. However, my question is: Is there a bad part of Peachtree City (higher crime, etc.)? My hope is that there is not. Perhaps we can purchase a fixer-upper PTC on the idea of location, location, location. So....is there a bad part of PTC?
In advance, many thanks for your responses.

Yes, there are no bad areas of Peachtree City to my knowledge. The reason those homes may be in the low price range may be because they are foreclosures or eager sellers.

Wyndmead Subdivision has had problems in the past (high number of rental properties there) and is on highway 54 West near the Coweta County line. Harmony Village Apartments (formally Peachtree Station until a shooting a few years ago) is the only Section 8 housing in town so that would be a place to avoid as well.

The "shady" part of PTC???
To Thedudewithaplan or any others who might know: is that near Wynns Pond, Beaver Dam Park, near the intersection of 74 and 54? That is where I'm finding listings for the low 100s.... Perhaps too good to be true? Thanks!

Yes, one of the earliest developments in PTC back from the 70s -- was at the low end of housing in PTC even back then, so one of the few areas that would have seen better days. It is separated from the majority of the city being west of 74.

No...
Wynnmeade (sp?) is west of 74. It is not lower-to-moderately priced neighborhoods. Not a crime-fested hell hole. For a long time, it was basically the only housing west of 74 in Peachtree City.
Most of Peachtree City is east of 74.
However, lots of new development (upscale, John Weiland, etc) is happening now west of 74 near Wynnmeade and MacDuff Parkway.
The new Wilksmoor Village, will be totally west of 74.
