Default Moving to Atlanta area

2 of my friends and I are planning on moving to the Atlanta area (probably Decatur). We all plan on getting full-time jobs and renting an apartment. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how much we could afford realistically (assuming we'd also be paying for utilities). I found some listings for fairly large and inexpensive apartments at The Village at Wesley Chapel, but it seems too good to be true, so if anyone knows anything about that place It would be great. Also I'd love to hear if anyone has suggestions for good jobs in the Decatur area.

Going by from what I remember from '03 when my friend lived there. I wouldnt move there unless you can tolerate rowdiness, loud music all times of night and drug transactions happening all over the place.
Again this is from '03. Maybe it has changed.

Considering the direction south DeKalb has gone in the last 4 years I would say it has probably gotten worse. I know there has been some new development in that area (although I'm not sure if it is post-03) but in general south DeKalb isn't doing all that well. I'm not familiar with the complex but considering the area I would expect that roamfree's friends experiences are pretty representative of what it is like now.

For the apartment rating site:

The overall area around westley chapel/I20 is not a safe environment. My car was broken into a block from the apartments. Several cars were broken into in the complex. There is drug activity. And the final straw for me was when my apartment was shot into! The management was okay, the repairs were alright as well. If your a true soldier, you can't beat the price, size and proximety to the city.
