For public schools in Grant Park/Ormewood Park areas:
Parkside Elem-great reviews, diverse,
King middle-Not as good but working on it
Maynard Jackson High-just learned on here today that it could be a viable option, or maybe I can send her to Grady?

Charter School Choices-
N'hood Charter-great
Atlanta Charter Middle-great
Tech High Charter- I guess? IDK much about it though.

Other options:
Imagine Wesley Internat'l Charter-sounds great from website anyway.

Any Grant Park parents on here?

What do you know about the schools I listed above? Impossible to get into the charters? How are the public school offerings?

Im leaning towards GP and maybe a townhome in City of Decatur right now as the best compromise hubby and I can reach in our budget. Thoughts?
Our son attended both Parkside and NCS. We like Parkside's facility and technology, but we do not like direct instruction for our son. If it works for your child, great. NCS has a lottery, and if you live in the first zone, you have the best chance. I know second zone parents who got in through the lottery.

Kittyboyo,
Thanks for your reply. We spoke to a co worker who lives in EAV and she raved about Ormewood Park as another option to consider.

Sounds like the school choices are pretty diverse in the Ormewood Park/Grant Park areas too so at least I wont be totally out of options if she cant get into a charter.

Ive heard a bit about "direct instruction" vs. the "International Bacc" curriculum and must say I dont know much about either. Can you enlighten? Im not sure what type of learner our daughter is yet since she is only entering K.

Any areas in GP or OP you would stay away from altogether?
