I would think so as well. Besides, how did the coversation go if the mechanic was unaware...
"Mr. Mechanic I have extensive damage to my vehicle that I need you to fix... no you cannot tow or drive it to you shop, you must bring all of your tools and fix it in my garage... and no you cannot open the garage door while working on it."
Okay, I know I'm being extreme... but really I would bet the mechanic will at least be investigated.

That sounds exactly like it too.
She wasn't going to confess at all. Hell, they made a u turn for it when they came to the neighborhood and saw all the cops n news people! Her mom helped cover up the crime too. 2 weeks later and nothing. I'm shocked it took the police this long to find the car.I mean, how many champagne colored BMW 7 series could be in that 30331 and 30349 area? I mean, you get the DMV records and you narrow it down. It was already said that the oil pan was damaged or broke off the car so that meant, the car couldn't have gotten went that far away.
bill, I doubt it was 10 hours. They get to the station say roughly 8...They start talkin with all 3 women..comparing stories. They let her mom and granny go bout 3 so you add in processing the warrant and then placing her under arrest, its not that long.
Aww, well. Sucks to be her. She could have gotten a way lighter sentence, if she had just stayed at the scene. Easily gotten less than 5 with probation but now, I doubt she will get less than 15 years. These folks never learn, if you stay, you are more likely to get off then when you leave the scene.

I learned about it from these forums, as I don't generally watch or read local news. But yeah, if it was local to the area you would probably have a point.

Northwood Elementary Principal-Victim's Mom
Sorry, I had attempted to post earlier, but didn't follow through. Anyhow, yes, it does suck to be her, but, my question, being that I am Fulton County teacher and her mom is a principal at a Fulton County school (Northwood Elementary in Roswell), is how are those parents going to feel about this whole thing? Especially since the mother sort of helped "cover up" the incident by not reporting it to the police? I wonder if anything will happen to her at all.
I know the news said her mom was a kindergarten teacher, but that's not true. Her mother's name is Sheila Michael and she is listed as the principal at Northwood Elementary.

They just weren't thinking. It is one thing to leave the scene -- but not to come forward after two weeks. They had to know they were going to get caught.
Good lesson for all -- when you screw up -- face it, own it and deal with it.

The entire situation is just tragic for everyone all around. I don't understand how the woman charged with this could live with herself for 2 weeks knowing her actions caused the deaths of so many. Did she really think she would get away with this? And her mother and grandmother trying to cover it up too? What is wrong with these people?

The whole story saddens me. Its a testament to why people need to be careful and pay attention on the road, you can severely impact the lives of others with your actions. I see the thread on here about speeding tickets where people are going 30 over the limit. A car is a not a toy!
