Suburbs, more than likely yes. Inside the perimeter, very likely no. East Cobb is particularly "churchy".

Anywhere you live can be exactly what you make of it. If you don't want your place of residence to be churchy, it won't be. Period.

I'm from here and I've never been asked this question before.

Though it happens on occasion, I have Jehovah's Witnesses prosthelytizing me in public places with their pamphlets than people asking me what church I go to. I generally don't get bothered by the question and just move on. As people here have already mentioned, I would venture to guess people ask this more in some suburban areas and rural areas of Georgia than in the intown areas.

I think it's very "churchy" here (is that a word?) I've been asked many times about what church we go to, etc. Also, a lot of businesses are closed on Sundays and kids sports games are scheduled later in the day to accomodate church goers. That's been my experience and we've been here a little over a year.

I think Atlanta is a little "churchy" and I rather like it, because I have noticed how nice the residents usually are as a result. Sure the liberal areas like Little 5 and midtown are not very churchy for obvious reasons, but anywhere there are families living in homes, there are going to be swaths of people who are connected through a church, and to me what could be better.

Is it true that you can't buy beer, wine, alcohol on Sundays in Metro Atlanta?
