Hi, We (ethnic background) moved to Atl & bought a house in candler park/ lake claire area and moved a week ago. Looking for some advice/ suggestions:
- Iam into running and outdoor activities: Are there any groups that meet for long runs/ marathon or 1/2M training ?
- We are looking for a good & reasonably priced gym any suggestions ?
- Both interested in community activities, volunteering for social causes..
- Other fun activities/ looking for friends etc..

Very excited & pleased that we are here

Welcome to the neighborhood! Did you go to the Inman Park festival yesterday? If not, please go today. Just walk up McLendon, pass through L5P, continue on Euclid and you're there.

As for your questions:

1. I am also a runner and I recently ran the ING half. I currently maintain a 10 mile distance, which I run every Saturday morning. I'm recovering from a strained calf on my left leg so I've been running slow (8:30 pace rather than my 7:45 pace). I don't know about any running groups but there are a lot of people in the neighborhood who run so you can probably find a buddy. If you're ever interested in doing a 10 miler throughout town let me know and I'd be happy to have company on my Saturday morning run (as the summer set in this will mean getting this done ~7am). Yesterday I started on the corner of McLendon and Moreland, ran through Inman Park as they were setting up the festival, then through downtown near the GA Dome, then through the neighborhood of Vine City, skimmed the top of the neighborhood of Grant Park, went through Cabbagetown, before passing back through Inman Park where there were a scattering of festival goers to finish back at the start.

I like to run through the city streets and do a different route every Saturday. I am a 34 year old female and never feel like my safety is at risk.

2. I don't use a gym so I am not so familiar with the options. But my neighbor uses one around Ponce that she bikes or walks to. I'll find out the name.

3. Join the Lake Claire or Candler Park neighborhood orgs (whichever applies to you specific location). You can also get involved at the Existentialist Church on Candler Park Drive. Existentialism is like Unitariate Universalism in that it's a spiritualistic group, not so much Bible people. Liberal in nature.

4. This will take care of itself. You moved to the best part of town and stuff to do is at your fingertips.

Let me know if I can help you get acclimated and feel free to send me a direct message.

Again, welcome!
