Brooks is very much out in the country. Very conservative, very rural, and at least 15 or 20 minutes to the nearest supermarket. Housing there can be pretty expensive as well.

Are you talking about Brooks which is a settlement in Fayette County , near Atlanta ?
If you are , it is a beautiful part of the county . Lots of georgeous mini farms etc. It will not have any nearby malls but does have upscale shopping at "The Avenue" in Peachtree City.
You will also have all major grocery stores (except Whole Foods and Trader Joes ) in both Peachtree City and Fayetteville.

Yes, Brooks is in the southern part of Fayette County, almost towards North Griffin. It is quiet and serene, and, you will be about 15 to 20 minutes from shopping Fayetteville (the Fayetteville part in the White Water district and Inman Road), and 15 to 20 minutes from shopping in Peachtree City.
If I had a job downtown, I don't think I would want to move out there because of the commute time. However, some people don't mind driving ( I find many transplants do not mind). Overall, it is quite rural with great schools. No, it's not that rural to the point of needing to stock up on food.

If you consider 98% white a mix of cultures. Believe African American population as of 2000 was around 0.34%. Not sure what it is now though.
