atl-gal is on a distinguished road
The police report from the incident with the GT student (available on the AJC website) says that the police who tried to pull over the car requested helicopter police assistance. However, they were furloughed that night. So these thugs got away. This is a direct result of the budget cuts our city's police department faces. The thugs seem to know this and are being more daring and violent in their crimes.

Time for a new city government that prioritizes police protection.

Considering i just drove through that area 2 days before this incident (same street mind you), a helicopter would be of little use. its either high rises, roads or bushes.

ajc also says that likely the same 3 shot another person in the leg after robbing him some days before the GT student
