Well, you should have come on here and asked where to live. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!!!!

I don't do that commute, but several on here have cursed this commute (Duluth to Alpharetta) as well.

There are plenty of ways beside that.
120
Over to Peachtree Industrial then down to Sugarloaf, next light dual highway.
Up and over to Lawrenceville Suwanee
Pleasant Hill to Old Norcross
I guess before I go on, what part of Duluth do you reside.

Let me give you some new resident advice.
Go to Costco or Borders or Barnes and Noble. Costco will provide the best price by a mile.

Get the ADC Street Map book of Greater Atlanta. It is easy to read with defined streets. You cannot go wrong. Use it a bathroom reading material. I promise within 2 weeks you will find many different routes, from Beaver Ruin to 23 to Pleasant Hill to 141 to McGinnis.
From Reynolds to Pleasant Hill direct.
To the South of Jimmy C over etc.

The books is worth it's weight in gold.

PS: It is a big thick book, hard to miss

And use Georgia Navigator before you head out to find out which routes have delays: Georgia Navigator :: Home

I consult this site prior to almost every trip anywhere in Atlanta...it has saved me countless hours of frustration.

I had to travel MF for years and it always was bad...now I'm sure it's better... if you love your job and hate the commute and your renting...consider moving when your lease is up.

Tresninas is on a distinguished road
That strip is horrible. I'm very sorry.

The problem is, is that there's not really any way around the worst strip, which is between Peachtree Industrial and Bell Road/Old Atlanta. I used to live in an apartment at Peachtree Industrial and McGinnis, and commute to Bell and McGinnis. I think it's 4 miles. It would take me 35 minutes. I did this with morning sickness. I thought I would shoot myself.

Abbots Bridge (120) is just as horrible.

There are many backroads from Duluth to Alpharetta, but there are only a couple of ways to cross the river, and all of them are horrible.

The good news is that in 2010 sometime, McGinnis Ferry will be completed. Hopefully that will help. Best of luck. My advice? Move to Alpharetta.

Yeah -- even the alternatives suck for that route.
