Default How much should lawn care cost in Atlanta

Currently my guy charges me $75 every two weeks. That is $150 per month. I can't afford that anymore. He weed eats, edge and cuts the lawn. He does a fabulous job but when I put it in perspective $150 seems astronomical. What are you paying?

He keeps my flower beds clean too but I don't think that is much work.

I pay $35 every two weeks for mowing and edging, but even though our overall lawn isn't small (.42 acres) about 40% is wooded. I'm sure that helped to reduce the cost.

I also pay another company $40 perhaps 8-10 times a year to seed, fertilize, and weedkill the yard.

I pay $40 a week plus an additional $40 per month for weed and feed. So you're not overpaying, in fact, it's very reasonable.

Why don't you do it yourself?

Our yard is around 1/3 of an acre, and we pay $40 every two weeks to cut, weed eat and edge. Unless you've got a very large yard or elaborate landscaping, you can probably do better. Generally, the "guy with a trailer" that advertises in the local papers is less expensive that the big lawn care "companies", and will do just as good of a job- sometimes better, since you're dealing directly with the owner, rather than employees.

Thanks bob. Yes my yard is much smaller than yours.

I've tried that before. Let's just just say it didn't work out. I'm willing to pay. I just don't want to overpay and honestly can't afford $150 per month.

My front yard is 1/2 acre. A neighbor who does yard work on the side mows and weed eats it about once every two weeks for around $30 per pop, and will fertilize it for a few dollars more when needed. Any extras are added as needed too, but "extras" usually don't need to be done nearly as often as just plain mowing/weed eating. My back yard is also 1/2 acre but I mow it myself due to my having several dogs that I don't want to be exposed to chemicals or fertilizers, etc.

So ask around. Even though you don't mind (or didn't) paying for a "pro" service, there might be someone near you who does the work much cheaper and just gets the basics done at a more reasonable price.
