Any fitness bootcamps, reasonably priced, between Alpharetta and Stone Mountain. I saw one for about 300 and that is out of my price range. Any suggestions or direction to a personal trainer are appreciated.

I go to X3 Sports, which is on Highland in Inman Park (near Freedom Pkwy, thus in between Stone Mtn and Alpharetta). They offer a boot camp class, kickboxing, and boxing in an all-inclusive package at a competitive rate. They also have a decent weight room.

I have a suggestion, but it doesn't involve bootcamp or a personal trainer.

I found it easiest to get into shape on my own schedule, which sometimes meant an early morning work out and sometimes it meant an evening one.

Here's a program you can do on your own or with a buddy:

Cool Running :: The Couch-to-5K Running Plan

This program has a couple of different forums where participants can post their daily progress and get encouragement from other participants:

C25K : Couch to 5K Forums

Couch to 5K Club - Page 31 - Weight Loss Forum

Couch to 5K Group SparkTeam

I personally found a lot of success with this program. When I started it nearly a year ago I couldn't run a mile. As of now I run 4 days a week, twice a week I run 5 miles and twice a week I run 10 miles (30 miles a week total).

Running, by far, is on of the most energy expensive activities you can do. Whether you walk or run you burn ~ 100 calories per mile. You burn slightly more by running. So, as you can imagine, I burn ~3000 calories a week, nearly an entire fat pound's worth of energy.

The really great thing is you don't need to commit to a specific time of day and you don't have to pay for it, other than to buy a good pair of running shoes (that suit your gait - get it analyzed at a running store - it's free).

So, perhaps, in addition to bootcamp you might look into a running program.

Best of luck!
