Best Neighborhoods
What are the best in-town neighborhoods that are not actually within the boundaries of the City of Atlanta?

I can think of several - Brookhaven, Decatur, southern sections of Sandy Springs (down Lake Forrest towards Chastain, down Peachtree-Dunwoody, and Glenridge), and Vinings. I would also suggest select parts of Chamblee.

Thank you for the response. Are you aware of any desirable cities/towns west or south of the city? Thanks.

Now when you say desirable locations west or south of the city are you still targeting in-town neighborhoods?

I really love parts of East Point and Cascades is also frequently mentioned. Unfortunately though, I am just not familiar with the southern portion of the ITP area to comfortably suggest neighborhoods. Maybe someone else can chime in?

Cascade is technically part of Atlanta. East Point and College Park both have some nice neighborhoods, but they also have some pretty bad neighborhoods. Vinings is to the northwest and inside the perimeter but I'm not sure it would be considered intown.

I think the original poster is basically saying ITP but not in Atlanta. Vinings would qualify under that definition while "Smynings" would not. You are right about Cascades though.

Part of Cascade is in the city limits. Part of it is outside the city limits. I can't rememebr precisely where the line is, but I used to live off of Cascade and I remember passing the sign all the time. The part outside the city limits, but inside the perimeter, is mostly brick ranches, middle class to upper middle class black families.

Thank you all for your responses. I would like to be within the perimeter, but would be willing to be slightly outside if the area is right. As for East Point, are the properties devalued as a result of being so close to the airport?
Does anyone know anything about areas like Fayetteville, Jonesboro, and/or Douglasville?
