I came across this on the web. Apparently the local newspaper Creative Loafing sells gift certs to some good restaurants (Food Studio, Geisha House, etc) for half price. You pay $25 for a $50 gift card, that doesn't seem to have many restrictions.

Anyone know if this is legit?

I don't know the details, but yes it's legit. I remember someone else talking about it at some time or another. There are certain restrictions so you have to pay attention to those, though. Channel 2 was doing the same thing on their wsbtv.com web site as well at one point. There are also "Entertainer" books for sale in some shops intown that have "buy one get one" type coupons for local restaurants in them.

Cool thanks. I'm planning on hitting up Dolce for V-day so I'm going to buy a gift cert from them (the Dolce one actually has no restrictions).

Out west where we came from there is a card called passport unlimited you can purchase (Around $90) that lets buy on entree and get the 2nd free at participating restaurants. There were a lot of restaurants who participated, including upscale ones and it was discreet as you just gave the card along with your credit card and they processed it.

I have not seen anything quite that good here but there are some rewards out there. try these links..

We buy these all the time. As others said - just be careful of restrictions - a lot are only good Mon-Thurs and some are not good for alcohol/tax/tip. But if you know you are going to be spending at least $50 or so - they are a great deal and I speak from experience!

The deals are better at Half Off Depot :: Why live life at full price?. The shipping costs are lower, and the selection is MUCH better.
