Isn't one of the first rules of real estate "never live directly in the flight path of an extremely busy airport?"

Personally, I wouldn't do it. Not only would the noise drive me crazy, but do you know how much pollution airplanes put out? They are way worse than cars. Most people aren't affected because airplanes are concentrated at the airport, but I don't think I'd want to live close to that concentrated source.

I know they are trying to build up the area over there, but there are just some fundamental rules of real estate. Never buy in a flood plain. Never buy next to a landfill. And never buy near the airport.

It is still the case on many areas within Camp Creek. It is affordable for a reason. There are many subdivisions nested within the old housing and yes, within the poverty stricken residences. Some subdivisions are gated, others are beautiful but the surrounding residences (low end stable like condos) and residents (mostly section 8) do not compliment or complement the area at all.

That's true that there are many foreclosures in the Camp Creek area being rented out to section 8 residents.

There might have been a significant amount of home burglaries since the recession in the Camp Creek area, but I would still buy there.

Might be buying a property down there as early as next weekend. I'll take my chances and just get a secure alarm system.

It's still a quiet area, it's not like it's the new Bankhead or Thomasville

Default camp creek

the airport is not a big factor if you are west of Camp creek. You will only hear the aircraft when they are approaching from the west side of the field. Most of of the time the winds favor an approach from the east side of the field. I purchased my first home in the CAMP creek area about a year ago. The area is quiet but in the past there were a few break-in but this is happening all over the Atlanta area. The major negative I would say are the schools. The schools are not that bad but not great. I don't have any kids yet but most of my neighbors have their children in private school in the city. The homes in the 200K-300K range are selling. There are new homes in my subdivision that are being built and they are selling surprisingly . Currently 4 of the new homes are under contracts and about 6 have sold within 3 months. The banks are starting to notice the change in the market and are starting bring back the foreclosed homes to the market.

Actually a lot of section eight people are great tenants. Because if you mess around in section eight you get kicked out of the program. I have rental properties in the Camp Creek area and it is not a bad area. It just gets a bad reputation because there is black people. I live in Buckhead and I would live in Camp Creek any day over Forsyth, or far N. Fulton. (oh and I am 75% Irish 25% Spanish) It is a great location and easy commute to many job centers.

Thank You

I've never heard of high crime in the Camp Creek area.

People love to speak on what they don't know about

Actually, the crime varies within Camp Creek, as anywhere else; but as I've said before the CAP (FAQ's About Crime Risk Assessment & Loss Forecasting Tools from CAP Index) score as of about a year ago was 768. This mean it was nearly 7.7 times the national average, the highest score being for rape, homicide, and robbery.

This information came from an annual security meeting my employer has (I work in Camp Creek).

Well, you have to think about this way. There are actually "two" Camp Creeks.

West of I-285 Camp Creek is very different from East of I-285 Camp Creek.

When people define "high crime area" to me I just laugh. I am a city kid from the bronx so I don't consider Camp Creek a high crime area. Plus I am a 6'4 black male so I am not a target!
