Hello,
My husband and I are looking to relocate with our twins in 7/07 to GA. We are still trying to narrow down some areas. Someone mentioned Camp Creek as an up and coming area. I have not been able to find out any info about this area. I know it is in Fulton COunty. Is it too new??? We are looking at Lawrenceville and we are also looking to check out Cobb County. My job is in Smyrna so we are also looking for locations nearby. Any feedback is helpful Thanks ![]() |

The Camp Creek area is nice and up and coming. Check out the Princeton Lakes community near Camp Creek Parkway. Pulte Homes has developed several new subdivisions in the area and the houses are priced well. Also, you'll be right off of I-285, which will give you a direct shot to Smyrna.
Lawrenceville on the other hand is nice, but the commute will absolutely kill you if you work in Smyrna. One other area I would recommend is the area off of Veterans Memorial Highway in Mableton, in Cobb County. The area is also up and coming with new retail centers and subdivisions. Also, it's close to Smyrna as well. |

Locations nearby (by Atlanta standards) and are decent:
Hiram (avoid the main drag of hwy 278 and/or hwy 92). Powder Springs (north of Powder Springs, not actually within the town) Vinings (pretty pricey, but nice and closest to Smyrna). P.S... there is no need for multiple "?????????" in posts. People WILL answer. |

We are also considering camp creek area due to the commute. Stonewall Tell elementary is a few years old ranked 9/10 on greatschools.com, There is a new middle and high school supposed to be built and open pretty soon. The new elementary school further in fairburn is questionable.

If you're working in Smyrna you should probably live in Smyrna. Smyrna is great and more established than Camp Creek. Camp Creek is too far away from Smyrna and the commute will be bad. Camp Creek isn't a bad place (outside the perimeter), and is an offspill of Cascade, but you won't like the commute. As a rule of thumb, I wouldn't commute across I-20 and I wouldn't go any farther out than Austell and Powder Springs, which are up-and-coming as well.
I live in Smyrna and know it like the back of my hand. What are your requirements and price range? For schools, I'd shoot for areas of Smyrna in Teasley, King Springs Elementary or Nickajack.... There's a lot of people with kids off Camp Highland and Concord Rd near the covered bridge (around Angla Dr). Ridge Rd is also in a good school district, but it's an older neighborhood and doesn't have as many kids, except off of Creatwood Trail. However, a big benefit of Creatwood Trail (if you are willing to live in an older house) is it's in Teasley Elementary's school district, which is excellent. http://www.cobbk12.org/schools/2007-...Elementary.pdf Last edited by netdragon; 03-25-2008 at 05:54 PM. |
