Default No television

Does anyone on here not own a television, I have not owned one for 10 years and when I move to Atlanta full time, have no interest in getting one, I have yet to see one home without one, will I be the only no tv household in Atlanta?

LOL. As a household, we currently have 6 plugged in TV"s, and a couple of more stored in the basement. However, we rarely ever bother to turn any of them on. There is nothing on worth watching, but occasionally we will rent movies.

I've got you covered. We have four...3 HD and an old analog.

Before anyone mentions it....my kids are honors students, play outdoors, and aren't fat. TV in moderation is good, as is XBOX Live. We watch mainly news, sports, and educational channels like Discovery. A few movies are always nice too.

Screw that. I'm a boring professor and sometimes I like mindless, crappy, VH1 reality. The longest I've gone without TV is a week, only b/c I was either too busy vacationing or partying in college. Honestly, there are a few good shows out there, depending on your tastes.

Of course not. Believe it or not, lots of people don't have a TV for one reason or another. Some think TV is eeeeevil. Others can't afford one or just don't care enough about it to spend money buying one and paying for cable.

I got a really nice 27-inch JVC TV for Christmas in 2004. This January, about two weeks after the five-year warranty expired (of course), it made a *POP* sort of noise and ever since then it only shows the colors blue, yellow, black and white. Also, the quality of the picture isn't quite what it was before. If a scene on a TV show is happening at night, pretty much all I see is black, like someone put the lens cap on the camera. It's actually pretty funny.

I wasn't much of a TV-watcher before because I had the most bare-bones cable package Comast offers ($13) a month, and I always put the TV on "Mute" when commercials came on. Now, I don't even bother. For the last five months, I use the TV three or four times a week to do exercise videos, that's it. When I move back to Atlanta in a few months, I will NOT be hauling that thing down there with me. It's REALLY heavy, and I live by myself in a third floor apartment and I don't have a car, so taking it somewhere to have it repaired is pretty well out of the question. (Not to mention that I could use that money for something else.)

I watch my Netflix movies on one of my computers and I watch a TV show online maybe once a week. No big deal.

I have satellite but don't watch a lot of TV to be honest. I watch some of the news and realty type junk shows while I'm eating dinner. I MIGHT flip around the reality shows just to see what they're about (and usually turn them off after 10 minutes). I do watch True Blood on HBO though, and was a fan of Battlestar Galactica and Enterprise when they were on the sci fi channel. Overall though I spend little time per day, in front of the TV.

But hey, if you go by what they say on the news, millions of "unsuspecting" people will lose their TV reception Friday when the (drum roll) "digitalllllll transitionnnnnnnn" takes place.

I'm sure that if you've managed to function without one up until now, you will continue to do so.

We have a 50" plasma (a no-name brand cheapie from Wal-Mart)...that pretty much stays off except for whenever my husband decides, usually on Saturday and Sunday night, to watch all the Olbermann, Daily Show, and Colbert Report he DVRed during the week.

Sometimes we rent movies. We really got the big TV for that. We have a small living room and a big screen...it's like going to the movies!

But I would say there are a lot of Atlantans like us...at least from what I can tell.

It's too nice outside most days to be inside watching TV....

No tv for us either. I have better things to do with my time. And I think a giant tv in the living room is an eye sore.
