Hello,

I just read a posting about the light rail possibly coming to Gwinnett. I know that won't be anytime soon but I live in Gwinnett and work in Cobb and wanted to know what is the best way to commute there since the train doesn't go there to bypass traffic? I thought of going to Doraville to park and ride but that would probably be a bit much transferring from A to B without a light rail. If anybody knows please let me know. .Your help is greatly appreciated...

Thanks!

If you took the train from Doraville and exited at Five Points you would need transportation to Cobb County.

If you traveled 85S from Gwinnett you could take I 285 W to parts of Cobb County. I would imagine this route is heavily traveled daily.

Eventually I will. I just got there not quite a year and my job was right around the corner but they moved to Cobb and with the recession I couldn't be picky. I had to suck it in and do the what 30 -45 minute ride.. so .......

and what is Gwinnasia?

Slang some folks use for "Gwinnett". I think it replaced the older "Gwinnetians" or something. Hard to keep up with local slang.

I honestly would take Mount Vernon Highway. Unless it's off-peak, I wouldn't touch I-285. It's just about as bad (or worse maybe) than taking I-85 to I-75.

By the way, where in Cobb County? Depending on where, I'd either switch off Mount Vernon highway to Abernathy to East Cobb to Marietta/Kenessaw, or to Aker's Mill/Power's Ferry/New Northside area for Cumberland/Vinings.

If you want public transportation then

1) Doraville - > Arts Center - > CCT
2) 85 - > 285 -> Dunwoody MARTA Station -> CCT
