Smile Considering a move to Roswell,GA. PLEASE Help! :)

Hi,

Due to the awful economy in the north, my family is being to forced to relocate northern Atlanta. My husband's office will be in Marietta. I am terrified move my family from Michigan. My husband and I spent 1 day touring different cities with a realtor. It was a whirlwind. From what I remember, we like large friendly neighborhoods with pool, tennis, etc. We seemed to have liked the Roswell area. Can someone please share their knowledge with me on this area? We are in our late, late 30's have an 8 yr old and 5 yr old. Excellent public schools and a nice neighborhood with amenities are very important to us. Price range is under $500K. What are the reputations of Roswell? Is there a more prestigious part of town? We found the Edenwilde subdivision that feeds into Sweetapple Elementary school. However, I would be sad to move into a neighborhood where all the kids went to private school.

- feedback on Roswell, GA?
-What other cities should we check out with excellent schools and good reputations?
-low crime

Thanks for sharing your experiences with me. I greatly appreciate it!

I've never heard anything negative about the Edenwilde subdivision. They have a very active tennis/swim program, and loads of kids in the neighborhood. Schools are among the better rated for GA. You might also consider East Cobb though, if your husband is working in Marietta.

We have lived in in Marietta on the East Cobb/Roswell line for the last 20 years. Most all of the schools in the East Cobb area are very good - elementary, middle and high schools. Many of the neighborhoods are swim tennis - some more active than others. East Hampton on Roswell Road in Marietta is very pretty, lots of kids all ages and close to good churches, shopping (The Avenue - an outdoor shopping mall), a park a little farther down Roswell Rd. too. Roswell has some very nice areas as well - you will pay higher taxes in Roswell as it is in Fulton Co. (East Cobb is in obviously in Cobb Co.). The town of Roswell is very attractive, nice shops, restaurants, lots of Southern history there too. I don't think you would go wrong in either area - good luck in your decision!

I loved Roswell when I lived in GA. The school experience for me was EXCELLENT!!! People in the ares send their kids to both private and public. But I believe more people send their kids to public school. It is very safe and the parks are just beautiful. Marietta and Roswell just are very different to me. You've got to check out both places to get a feel for them. Alpharetta, Vinnings, and Duluth are very nice choices to check out too.

I just got back from spending a week in Roswell with friends because we are planning a move also. I LOVED it. We had already checked out East Cobb/Walton school district and Alpharetta and Johns Creek. Both were nice but we were sold on Roswell.
Our reasons:
It had more of a town feel to it. The friends we stayed with told us that a lot of the social life is around the high school (Roswell), going to football games, fire works are there, etc.
The Park system is incredible. Our friends kids all play sports and that is important to our family.
Traffic was not nearly as bad as it was in Alpharetta area.
We visited Mountain Park Elem. and Roswell High, where our kids would go. The staff at both schools were very nice and imformative. My friends said that while some do go to the private schools, most do not because the local schools are excellent. We also have friends in Wexford Sub. which I believe is across from Edenwilde. Both are very nice.
We went to Live After Five in downtown historic Roswell. Once a month, they have bands, street performers etc It was like a block party up north.

I am looking forward to our move.
