Default Lake Lanier 4th of July Fireworks show

My mom and I plan on going to the 4th of July fireworks show at Lake Lanier. From what I have read, it sounds like they shoot off the fireworks from the resort area. However, you have to pay to park in the resort area. The question is, are there any other good areas around Lake Lanier to view the fireworks show without having to pay or pay so much to park and watch? What I am saying is, we don't have to be at the show itself.

Yes

go to buford dam road and then on hitt rd (there is a gas station right on the corner either a shell or a citgo or something like that, not the chevron). go to the end of the road and you will reach a free park area with a lot of parking. there are 2 lots so keep going.

or go on a boat in the lake

Good idea. How quick does that free park area fill up?
