Gwinnett has changed more than any other metro county at least since I moved here. In 1984 when I got here, Gwinnett was predominately white, middle-income, conservative, with the Gwinnett Mall and further areas considered "the boonies". Since that time, it now has one of the more diverse number of internationally-born residents in the Southeast, as well as a huge number of transplants from areas like NYC, New Jersey, Miami, etc. I don't see that changing over time and it will just increase and creep up further north.
Exactly right, and there lies the problem.

Gwinnett is the new Dekalb. Still some nice parts left, but overall in the toilet.

Gwinnett's future is that of a third world slum. Sorry, that's just the way it is.

Buford Highway paved the way for this future, and its proximity to south Dekalb for the southern part of the county isn't helping.

It developed too quickly and, as such, it didn't focus on quality construction. Too many cheaply built, concrete slab cracker boxes were built in the county, almost literally thrown up over night. Many of the neighborhoods are devoid of any large trees. The county had a slash and burn attitude with regard to development, and even to this day, it is obvious that Gwinnett County has the least of any county in terms of a tree canopy.

As the houses age, while the "international" cohort grows in number, while "South Dekalb" pushes into South Gwinnett, what you're left with is an ever-growing deteriorating infrastructure populated with an ever-growing "poverty-stricken" population.

In my opinion, only parts of Duluth, Suwanee, and northeast Gwinnett will survive these trends. The rest will become a mirror reflection of Dekalb County.

Unless people get stupid and start to abandon their homes and/or move away (i.e. start another white flight migration), Gwinnett will continue to grow and attract new businesses and residents.
This is bound to happen, as multiculturalism and multiracialism isn't natural, no matter how much the left wing has been trying to force this down people's throats. People vote with their feet, and it never changes.

Clayton County went from nearly 90% white in 1980 to 73% white in 1990. By 2000, Clayton was only 37% white. Today, I'd argue that it's only about 15% white, perhaps lower. It may even be in the single digits.

Read more about it in Gwinnett Forum.com -- Gwinnett County's community forum and idea exchange.

Several issues brewing there now.

Idiotic post: multiculturalism and multiracialism not natural. And Who began this concern? Why are blacks all different colors/shades. Gwinnett a cesspool? Your kind is moving closer and closer to their demise. The last of folks like you will be afterthought as your conservatives in sheets brothers disappear. When you pull the hod off you have Gov. Sanford.

BAck on topic GWINNETT is REALLY NICE - nice retail, decent schools, great HS football, nice downtowns, nice subdivions (where several have trees and large lots), different cultures, etc...

Please go back to cave and dwell which is where your roots are from.

RURAL LAND. How could the county build an 1800 acre park in Dacula? Because the area is rural. Thousands upon thousands of acres of rural land. And the park - Harbins - is a 2 minute drive from Tribble Mill - another large park. The area is miles and miles of rural land
YOUR POSTS ARE IDIOTIC

The areas that you leave out have some of the best schools: Brookwood, Parkview, Grayson, Dacula, New Archer HS, Norcross (also see Berkley Lake), new MountainView HS, Budford, etc...

Your posts are so blantanlty idiotic!! Overall Gwinnett is not even close to resembling Dekalb County. Perhaps you should move to Douglas or Paulding county.

Sad part about you and your kind is this - YOU HAVE KNOW IDEA OF WHAT'S GOING IN THE COUNTRY AND WORLD. YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY TO SOON DISAPPEARING. AS A FREIND WHO LIVES IN CHARLOTTE TOLD ME: YOU KNOW IT'S BAD WHEN YOU TAKE THE BUS TO WORK AND ALL YOU SEE ARE INDIAN'S WHEN THE COMPLEXION OF THE RIDERS WAS DIFFERENT A YEAR AGO. Who the hell do you think keeps the SAT scores up? Please check the photos of the valedvictorians in Gwinnet and N. Fulton. But instead of understanding what's going on in the world and around you, you write idiotic posts regarding multiculturalism - as if is black and white. IT'S NOT - JUST LIKE GWINNETT. YOUR EXISTING WILL SOON MEAN NOTHING TO BOTH CONSERVATIVES AND LIBERALS. You just don't know it. Too busy with your ignorant black and white thoughts.

BTW - Parkview HS is about 35% Indian. Please see Parkveiw's SAT scores.

You think that it's natural? If it were natural, you wouldn't have people of different races, by and large, attracted to areas where their racial group lives.

By the way, the different races were all geographically isolated, and still are, generally speaking.

How do you call it natural?

Quote:

That'd be because a number of individuals back in the day were interested in getting what they could. This doesn't make it natural. Lots of people do stupid unnatural things, such as getting tattoos, facial piercings, etc.

Quote:
Gwinnett a cesspool?
I didn't refer to it as a cesspool. However, much of the county is on the way to being slummy, granted that there will likely still be some nicer areas on the north/west side of I-85 from Duluth northward and also on the southside of I-85, from the I-85/I-985 merge in relative close proximity to I-85, northbound.

Your kind is moving closer and closer to their demise.
And you celebrate a coming third world, slum-like Gwinnett. You must be so proud of your ignorance.

Quote:

Trying to use the argument of the klan in an attempt to smear individuals who can think rationally about issues. You have failed.

Pointless and not related to topic.

In some areas, yes. However, it's gradually fading away. If you don't see it, then you're blind.

Quote:

Oh, so because I don't share your opinion of Gwinnett, I must "dwell in a cave". Typical left wing, "progressive" (LOL) nonsense.

Your sons and daughters will soon be slaves in the form of low wage workers to the children of Asian's, hispanics, Indian's, blacks, whites, etc... THIS IS A FACT. YOU CLEARLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE WORLD, THE UNITED STATES ECONOMY, THE GLOBAL ECONOMY, and why areas like Gwinnett must and will exist and areas like Forsyth will soon be 2009 Gwinnett - quicker than 2009 Gwinnett became what is its today. GREAT I MIGHT ADD. Why do you think the Forsyth county school district met with the Gwinnett county school district a couple of months ago. To learn how to adapt to it's changing environment. Forsyth county s filled with Hispanic and they realize that their way of life is ending or changing. - as is the US. India and China. Not to mentione Venezula, Mexico, European Union, etc... China growth = 10%/yr for the past 10 years. US growth - about 4%. WAKE THE $%#%^ up!!!!
