Interesting how they're going to name it the, "Maynard Jackson International Terminal". Jackson's name was added to the name of the airport not long ago. Now he gets his own terminal. Surely those who have contributed to Atlanta through the years number more than 3 or 4 people who seem to have everything named after them (?). One would think "Atlanta International Airport" would be enough. Former Atlanta Mayor Sam Massell, who was considered a good (and noncorrupt) Mayor even today plays a pivotal roll in bringing a ton of attention, money, and business to Atlanta. I think the "Sam Massell International Terminal" has a nice ring to it, myself.

It will be interesting to see how they managed to scale it back to meet the new budget, though. I don't see how you can trim hundreds of millions of dollars off of a project like that and still have it viable enough to do the job to its full potential, unless the original plans were oversized and full of fluff.

I am one day waiting for the airport to be renamed, "Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson Franklin Young Jackson King Brown Airport".

Call me "duh", but I'm actually not one for name-branding ANYTHING that is a service facility. I just want to see these places named Atlanta International.... L.A. International... Portland International..... just KEEP IT SIMPLE.

If you want to honor someone in history, regardless of who they are/were, then I think it's far more appropriate to simple put a statue and plaque of that person up, surrounded by a green space, or even if the public feels inclined to do so, some sort of memorial museum dedicated to that person, along with some charity donations or foundations in their name. Something that would actually benefit the public in that person's name, rather than just stroking the family's egos by sticking their name on buildings.

Tagging personal names onto service facilities to me, is just tacky. For the record, I feel the same way about sticking brand names on stadiums and arenas, too (regardless of what they get paid to allow it).

I'm still waiting to see the remodeled terminal's plans, though. If they're going to cut the cost nearly in half, I'm not sure how it would then keep up with the flow of people that they originally said the first plan's size would need to be in order to do it.
