My family and I are relocating to Georgia . We have looked in Duluth ,Alpharetta ,and Lithonia area. We have two children one in elementary and the other starting high school. How are the schools graded and is Northview high a very good school? Need help in deciding on the area and schools.

Northview is one of top two or top three high schools in Georgia.

Georgia doesn't grade schools, but the link to the report card can probably help you.
Northview High School is very well respected but it is huge as are most of the high schools in that area. Fulton County is purchasing land to build a new high school. I have several friends there and they love it. The way Georgia currently funds education bigger is better and so there are lots of educational opportunities at big schools. Athletics, though, are tough, because of the simple fact that regardless of how big or small a high school is, you can only have 5 basketball players on the floor at any given time. At schools, like Northview, even highly ranked junior tennis players may have a hard time making the team -- competition is so tough. I would do Fulton County schools before DeKalb (presuming that Lithonia is in DeKalb). |

I would definitely consider either Duluth or Alpharetta. Both areas are pretty crowded traffic wise, but heck, all of the metro area is getting that way! School wise I would definitely look into Alpharetta or Duluth. A certain area of Duluth is in Forsyth County, the other portion in Gwinnett, both excellent school systems. I take classes with teachers in both Alpharetta and Forsyth County and I have heard nothing but positive things.
I wouldn't completely avoid Lithonia, but, look into Lithonia in Gwinnett County, not the Dekalb part. I am all about great schools since I am a teacher! Any further questions, let me know, I am always happy to guide new comers because I am a proud Georgia Peach! ![]() |

the problem you have is schools that are great now may not be 4 years from now or whenever your kids are ready...especially with the way things are moving further and further into the suburbs...gwinnett schools and alpharetta area schools do well over all consistently...
